Natalya Pavlova as Violetta, together with her Alfredo and Giorgio Germont (Ivan Magri, and Giuseppe Altomare, respectively) battle mightily against the inanity of Nicola Raab's direction, unfortunately, to no avail. One must say, that Ms. Raab has achieved what I thought was nearly impossible -- she has drained the passion, drama, and romance out of Verdi's heretofore 'indestructible' masterpiece, and turned it into a lifeless, bloodless exercise in tedium.

This past Thursday at Broadway Sessions we took a trip down memory lane to Bikini Bottom at our Spongebob Cast Reunion Show! It was a joy to have the gang all back together as we all reminisced and naturally, hilarity ensued. Our wonderful lineup included Lauralyn McClelland, Kyle Matthew Hamilton, Danny Skinner & Ethan Slater, Robert Taylor Jr., Gavin Lee, Kelvin Moon Loh, Tina Landau, with special guests Marty Thomas, Finn Douglas, and Rising Star Catie Pires Fernandes. What a fun way to gear up for the HIGHLY anticipated Spongebob broadcast on Nickelodeon last week! 

The Velma V. Morrison Center for the Performing Arts has announced that the Tony Award®-winning Broadway musical, BANDSTAND, will play in Boise on the Morrison Center stage April 3 - 5, 2020. Originally directed and choreographed by three-time Tony winner and Hamilton choreographer, Andy Blankenbuehler, featuring music by Richard Oberacker with book and lyrics by Robert Taylor and Richard Oberacker, this poignant and inspiring new American musical explodes with infectious music and high-octane, heart-stopping dancing.

On Saturday, December 7, members of the original award-winning Broadway company of The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! reunited for a live television production on Nickelodeon.

Broadway's Future Songbook Series - presented by Arts and Artists of Tomorrow - continues its season on Saturday, December 14th in the Bruno Walter Auditorium at the New York Public Library for the Performing Arts at Lincoln Center located at 111 Amsterdam Avenue and 65th Street. Show time is 2:30PM and admission is FREE. Produced, Directed and Hosted by John Znidarsic and Patricia Hoag Simon - this special concert features an array of traditional and new holiday songs performed by students and graduates of Marymount Manhattan College. Nick Ferla will serve as music director.

The cast of The Spongebob Musical will reunite at Broadway Sessions this week, on Thursday, December 5!

Actors Technique NY/ATNY (Todd Etelson and Carl Anthony Tramon, Producers), will present the Post-Broadway Manhattan Premiere of _Matilda: The Musical_, based on the novel by Roald Dahl with a book adapted by Dennis Kelly, and music and lyrics by Tim Minchin. Every kid's favorite fable will be brought to life in an inventive new turn on the story with the help of a member of the original Broadway production, along with other Broadway veterans who have all joined with ATNY, the premiere acting school in NYC, and some of the most astonishing young talent in the country.

Ahead of next weekend's television premiere, The SpongeBob Musical has released all new production photos!

The musical Bandstand, which is now part of the American Theater Guild tour across the country, thrives when Andy Blankenbuehler's Tony-winning choreography is front and center. Restaged for this production by Marc Heitzman, who was Dance Captain in the Broadway production, the dances display vitality that makes audiences want to stand up and join in. The book and score do not hold up their end of the bargain, and in this production, Bandstand is further saddled with lackluster performances that should have been re-enlivened by tour director Gina Rattan.

The cast of The SpongeBob Musical: Live On Stage! spun a wheel and sang all of the classic songs from the television series, including F.U.N., Sweet Victory, Striped Sweater, Krusty Krab Pizza, and more!
