Young People's Theatre is thrilled to showcase world-renowned artists throughout its 2019.20 Season, including Canada's internationally-acclaimed Kaha:wi Dance Theatre, New York's Arktype, the creative team of Where the Wild Things Are, as well as direction by Sheila McCarthy, Philip Akin, Craig Francis and Rick Miller. Year-long celebrations will mark the 50th Anniversary of YPT's Drama School, whose alumni include Drake, Kiefer Sutherland and Giacomo Gianniotti.

The 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards for the 2018-2019 season were handed out in a star-studded celebratory ceremony in Toronto on the evening of Tuesday, June 25 at the Sony Centre for the Performing Arts, hosted by the multi-talented, multi-award-winning Rick Miller, well-known for his widely acclaimed one-man shows that include MacHomer, BOOM and Bigger Than Jesus (Dora Award for Outstanding Performance, 2006).

Artistic Director Allen MacInnis and Executive Director Nancy J. Webster are thrilled to reveal the 2019/20 playbill at Young People's Theatre (YPT). The new season will feature eight outstanding shows on two stages, including two world premieres, one Canadian premiere, and the return of two audience favourites!

Today is World Theatre Day and the Toronto Alliance for the Performing Arts (TAPA) fittingly announced the date, host, creative team and a new venue for the 40th Anniversary Dora Mavor Moore Awards, the awards show and party that celebrates extraordinary Toronto talent in the performing arts.

Rick begins his solo performance breaking the fourth wall as he lets the audience know that they are about to see him perform one hundred different characters in just over two hours.

The Cabaret Showdown is a monthly game show produced by Sound Street Productions in association with Frigid New York @ Horse Trade since 2011. This unique competition is a mixture of live karaoke and musical improvisation, with a game board. Contestants are asked to choose songs from various categories with no knowledge of what the song will be until 30 seconds before they sing. The Segal Centre for Performing Arts is proud to welcome back Rick Miller for the Montreal premiere of BOOM X, a Kidoons and WYRD in association with Theatre Calgary and The 20K Collective production. BOOM X is the second installment in Miller's trilogy of shows designed to tell a big-picture story: 75 years of history in this corner of our planet. While BOOM explored the Baby Boomer era, this sequel tells the story of Generation X: the 70s, 80s, and early 90s. Just in time for Valentine's Day, BOOM X rocks the Sylvan Adams Theatre at the Segal Centre from February 14 to March 10, 2019.

Pasadena Playhouse, the State Theater of California, presents a new family-friendly production of Jungle Book.  Adapted from the works of Rudyard Kipling, this version is written and directed by Craig Francis and Rick Miller and is performed Today, July 17 through Sunday, July 29 (press opening July 18).

After a highly successful and critically acclaimed 'Women of Ireland' season last year featuring By the Bog of Cats (several critics' awards including third place overall in Best Actor (Female) category and our first Barrymore Recommended production) and The Women of Ireland, a risky choice of short classics (Riders  to the Sea and Cathleen Ni Houlihan) mixed with a few absurdist contemporary Irish pieces directed by three female directors, we now turn to a season dedicated to The Irish Family. The phrase, 'You can't choose your family' springs to mind immediately.

Asolo Repertory Theatre hits a home run bringing this re-imagined and inventive production to its stage. The Canadian theater and television team of Craig Francis and Rick Miller who staged their version of 'Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea' last year is the talent behind the re-telling of this classic children's story.

Sierra Repertory Theatre recently received a $5,000 grant from Save Mart CARES to support presenting low-cost matinee performances especially for area students.

The Old Globe, together with Children's Theatre Company (CTC), and in partnership with The Old Vic, today updated information for Dr. Seuss's The Lorax in its U.S. premiere. The production, based on the book The Lorax by Dr. Seuss, is adapted for the stage by David Greig (Artistic Director of Royal Lyceum Theatre Company; recent work: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, Cover My Tracks) with music and lyrics written by Charlie Fink (front man/songwriter for the hit musical group Noah and the Whale, 2007-2015).
