Theatre Novi Most presents the iconic Russian classic by Anton Chekhov about love, art and the power and meaning of symbols, The Seagull. Staged by Russian director and Novi Most co-artistic director, Vladimir Rovinsky, this production disengages the play from the cliche?s of samovars, corsets, and the 'mysterious Russian soul' and instead addresses our contemporary world of disconnection and the desperate longing for love that is our seething, vibrating underbelly. In this existential and darkly humorous mediation on the stakes of living life and making art, Theatre Novi Most reminds us that Chekhov is supremely one of us.

THE CABARET SHOWDOWN to Continue with WEIRD SCIENCE Theme

The Cabaret Showdown is a monthly game show produced by Sound Street Productions in association with Frigid New York @ Horse Trade. This unique competition is a mixture of live karaoke and musical improvisation, with a game board. Contestants are asked to choose songs from various categories with no knowledge of what the song will be until 30 seconds before they sing. The winner from each month receives a free one hour showcase performance at the Kraine Theater presented the following month.

Le Theatre la Tangente to Stage Toronto Premiere of AMERICANDREAM.CA's Second Chapter

As part of the Celebrations of the 400th anniversary of francophone presence in Ontario, Theatre la Tangente is proud to introduce the second chapter of AMERICANDREAM.CA, a trilogy by Claude Guilmain. Part 2 will be presented at Theatre Glendon on Thursday September 3 and Friday September 4, while Parts 1 and 2 will be presented on Saturday September 5, followed by a panel discussion on the vitality of Franco-Ontarian dramaturgy. The play will be offered with English audio translation.

This winter, Canadian Stage remounts the phenomenally popular Venus in Fur for a third and final run. Providing an alternative to traditional holiday theatre offerings, 'the other nutcracker' is back for 13 shows only Dec. 18 to 28 at the intimate Berkeley Street Theatre (26 Berkeley St.). Rick Miller and Carly Street reprise their roles in this Dora Award-nominated production, with direction by Jennifer Tarver. David Mirvish has finalized all the details and shows for his 2014-15 line-up of shows. There will be seven shows in the Mainstage Subscription Series, three in the Off-Mirvish Subscription Series and nine bonus shows not on subscription. That brings the total to a record 19 shows for the 2014-15 season. The season lineup was announced during an event held on September 16 at The Royal Alexandra Theatre. The shows slated to play Toronto over the next year are: Wicked (now playing), The Book of Mormon (now playing), Our Country's Good (now playing), Arcadia, The Heart of Robin Hood, Blithe Spirit, Titanic the Musical, Kinky Boots, Disney's Newsies, Buyer and Cellar, Boom, Vanya and Sonya and Masha and Spike, Julie Madly Deeply, The Boy With Tape on His Face, Donny and Marie: A Broadway Christmas, Jersey Boys, Blades on Stage, Dame Edna's Glorious Goodbye, and Once.
