What were the results of this fundraising season? A whopping $5,721,879!

There's a new school in town and it's revolutionizing the way musical theatre students receive an education. Andrew Drost and Michael Minarik are the masterminds behind the Institute for American Musical Theatre, a school that is all about getting students out onto stages working under the lights of Broadway theatres. The Disney musical Newsies finds its lede in leading paperboy Jack Kelly (Joey Barreiro), an unknowing hero who rallies his fellow paperboy troops to strike and protest Joseph Pulitzer's increased newspaper bundle cost of 10 cents. Delivering that with 1899 styles of dress, heavy New York accents, and large dance numbers, Mr. Barreiro and the cast of Disney's Newsies create a hot-off-the-press energized performance.

Pittsburgh CLO will produce Disney's NEWSIES for the first time, July 18-23 at the Benedum Center. Inspired by the Newsboy Strike of 1899 and based on the cult-hit Disney film, NEWSIES tells a tale of strife and triumph with Tony Award-winning music, daring choreography and a touch of New York City grit.

A spirited audience of thousands went back to campus with stripped-down collegians who offered a sexy lacrosse scrimmage, a Pavlovian psychology experiment, a pumped-up pep rally and a fierce feminist studies class at Broadway Bares: Strip U, this year's edition of the annual highly choreographed, highly produced striptease spectacular. Produced by and benefiting Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS, Broadway Bares: Strip U raised $1,568,114 in two performances on June 18, 2017, at New York City's Hammerstein Ballroom. The Merry-Go-Round Playhouse has officially kicked off their 2017 season of Broadway in the Finger Lakes with none other than the multiple Tony Award-winning musical of Guys and Dolls.
