Review: WRECK THE HALLS at Sherman Players

Holiday traditions are sweet, but sometimes the stress of the holidays outweighs the joys. That's where Wreck the Halls comes in: It points out the pain of the holidays and is committed to making you laugh. And this raucous production of Wreck the Halls had the audience rolling!

Sherman Players to Present Brad Blake's WRECK THE HALLS

The Sherman Players will present Brad Blake's gloriously 'naughty' holiday revue 'Wreck the Halls' weekends at Sherman Playhouse. Nothing is sacred in this 'slay' ride of adult humor that rips the shiny bows off the holiday season.

Review: FAITH HEALER at Sherman Players

One man’s trash is another man's treasure. The grass is always greener on the other side. These phrases are all about perspective. Perspective can vary wildly from person to person and you cannot glimpse the whole story by only hearing one side. That is the premise of Brian Friel's Faith Healer, which is running at the Sherman Players.

Previews: FAITH HEALER at Sherman Players

The Sherman Players are proud to present, Faith Healer, by Brian Friel. A beautifully written play told in four monologues, Friel explores the fallibility of memory and the complex interplay of love, loyalty, loss, and despair.

Review: THE MUSIC MAN at Musicals at Richter

On Friday, July 28th, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal performance by Musicals at Richter, in Danbury, CT, Meredith Willson’s THE MUSIC MAN.  Musicals at Richter has a talent in making their outdoor venue feel like the perfect venue for every show they put on, including THE MUSIC MAN, as the moon shines from behind the trees backstage!  They also manage to get the perfect cast for each show, with each cast member excelling at the role they play, as the cast gels together as a collective group of highly talented local performers who are spectacular in their stage presence, stage chemistry with each other, acting, singing, dancing, and ability to radiate positive vibes from the stage, helping the audience enjoy watching them perform as much as the cast enjoys performing!  The directing of David Halliwell combines with the musical directing of Peter Randazzo, and the choreography of Lindsay Miller to help maximize the talents of this stellar cast!

Review: THE EXONERATED at Ridgefield Theater Barn

On Thursday, September 8th, I had the pleasure of seeing THE EXONERATED at The Ridgefield Theater Barn, in Ridgefield, CT.  This show is amazing, based on true stories, and sends some deeply impacting messages that touch the emotions to the core, in a good way. It opens awareness in the minds of the audience, about things not always being as they seem, and people not always being who they may appear to be.

Review: THE SOUND OF MUSIC at Musicals At Richter

On Saturday, July 23rd, I had the pleasure of seeing a truly first-rate production, a phenomenal performance of one of the greatest musicals ever written!  Musicals at Richter, in Danbury, continues with their legacy of providing audiences what we yearn for in live theater, the right shows with the right cast.  Rodgers and Hammerstein’s THE SOUND OF MUSIC was the perfect show to see outdoors on this lovely July night. Under the excellent direction of Jessica Smith, musical direction of Adam Snyder, and choreography of Lindsay Miller, this stellar cast truly made the hills come alive, on this new stage featuring a stunning set designed by John McMahon, complete with moveable pieces. The cast members radiate positive energy from the stage, truly entertaining the audience, and having fun playing their roles!

BWW Feature: Come To The CABARET in Westport

It would be nice if all theatres were coming back with a roar, but the pandemic is still hurting theatre companies and audiences. But horses have to run, writers have to write, and performers have to perform. To make the best of the current situation, the Westport Community Theatre is presenting a one-night cabaret on Thursday, October 21 at 7:30 and will feature various local talent.
