Four years ago today, just before an election expected to install the first female U.S. President, Taylor Mac premiered the entirety of A 24-Decade History of Popular Music, comprising 246 songs that were popular in this country from 1776 to 2016, in a 24-hour marathon performance.

More than 50 independent producers of live artsa?"representatives of a critical, oft-overlooked cross-section of the field­a?"have joined forces as the Creative & Independent Producer Alliance (CIPA) to address the urgent need for rebuilding and sustainability, advance cultural representation and resist historically oppressive institutional structures, and create systems of support necessary to ensure a future for artist-driven contemporary performance in a post-pandemic world.

On the occasion of New York City Pride and presented in conjunction with the 'Embrace' edition of the Guggenheim Circular, Works & Process, the performing arts series at the Guggenheim, premiered the remaining Works & Process Artists (WPA) Virtual Commissions during Pride Week.

ALL ARTS, the broadcast and digital platform created earlier this year by New York Public Media company WNET, announced today the selection of its first Artist in Residence, veteran theater artist Taylor Mac.

LUMBERYARD Center for Film and Performing Arts's summer 2019 season will bring some of New York City's most exciting artists to the organization's state-of-the-art Hudson Valley facility, built just 101 miles from Manhattan to provide a crucial lifeline for the performing arts ecosystem. New American work and the institutions built to present it in NYC are more technologically advanced than ever before; however, there is a critical gap in the system, as artists can no longer transition from studio to theater with only a few days of technical rehearsal, and NYC presenters can't afford to close their doors for extended technical rehearsals.

Christina Anderson's bold, imaginative portrait of three artist/intellectual couples exploring personal and professional legacy, How to Catch Creation makes its world premiere at Goodman Theatre. A playwright of note for more than a decade, with previous works at The Public Theater, Yale Repertory Theatre and Playwrights Horizons, Anderson makes her Goodman debut. Niegel Smith, who most recently directed the smash sensation Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) last season at the Goodman, directs Anderson's play, which appeared as a reading in the Goodman's 2017 New Stages Festival.

A vivid portrait of three artist/intellectual couples exploring life, children and marriage-coming together and coming apart-How to Catch Creation is directed by Niegel Smith, who most recently directed the smash sensation Father Comes Home from the Wars (Parts 1, 2 & 3) last season at the Goodman.

UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance (CAP UCLA) presents the incomparable, Taylor Mac's Holiday Sauce for a two-night engagement on Friday, December 14 and Saturday, December 15 at 8 p.m. at Royce Hall.

Last night Taylor Mac performed a stirring rendition of Patti Smith's iconic "People Have the Power" on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, with members of Stay Human, the Jon Batiste-fronted house band, and Mac's own ensemble. Taylor also chatted with Stephen about A 24-Deacde History of Popular Music among other topics.
