New York City Center just kicked off the 2022 Encores! Season with The Tap Dance Kid, featuring music by Henry Krieger, lyrics by Robert Lorick, and a book by Charles Blackwell. Directed by Tony Award-winner Kenny Leon (A Raisin in the Sun), the production also includes new tap sequences by choreographer Jared Grimes (After Midnight) and a concert adaptation by Lydia Diamond (Stick Fly). Broadway's Joseph Joubert (Caroline or Change) will guest music direct The Tap Dance Kid.
The Shaw Receives Support From The Province's Community Building Fund

The Shaw Festival welcomed the grant it received from the Government of Ontario's Community Building Fund - Operating stream in 2021. The relief funding of $250,000, delivered by the Ontario Trillium Foundation, helped sustain the Festival's operations and allowed for the creation of new experiences and programs.

Scar Tissue is a play that revolves around two roommates, Jessica (playwright Victoria Fragnito) and Sam (Rita McCann), each going through their own struggles in dealing with toxic relationships from their pasts. Jessica is attempting to break free from the memories of a man she dated in college, Luke (Nick Ritacco), a man who haunts her current relationship with Jack (Brandon Ford Green). Sam, on the other hand, is struggling with her relationship with her sister, Hannah (Jillian Vitko), who abandoned her in a time of need. When both women have to face their pasts head-on, truths are revealed and realities are shattered, threatening the relationship between the two roommates.

Bolshoi Celebrates Pokrovsky's 110th Anniversary With Pokrovsky-fest

Traditionally, at Christmas time, the Chamber Theatre presents one of the most unusual performances by Pokrovsky – The Rostov Mystery. This production, which is based on The Comedy on Christmas Day by Metropolitan Demetrius of Rostov, a text from the 18th century, was first shown in 1982 and has remained in the repertoire ever since. There will be two performances as part of the festival – on the 7th and 8th of January.

Today's episode features Broadway favorite Andréa Burns. 'My very first professional job was playing 'Maria' in West Side Story on a European tour. I left school to do it. It kinda became my college education. Instead of going to school I was at West Side U,' Burns explained in the episode. 'Some many things happened... I got my Equity card, I met my future husband (who played Tony), and now we have a son who is half-Jet half-Shark! [The show] is incredibly meaningful to me.'

As a form of goodbye to this year, I am looking back at all the fun moments I've had that are related to theater and are now fond memories. I've seen so many shows with friends and family members, I've been to concerts with friends and I even met some actors. Here are my top five memories.
