2019 Laureates Of The Praemium Imperiale Arts Award Celebrated In Tokyo

At a ceremony at the Meiji Memorial Hall in Tokyo today, Their Imperial Highnesses Prince Hitachi, honorary patron of the Japan Art Association, and Princess Hitachi paid homage to the winners of the 2019 Praemium Imperiale International Arts Award. Recipients are Tod Williams and Billie Tsien, Architecture (U.S.A.); William Kentridge, Painting (South Africa); Mona Hatoum, Sculpture (U.K.); Anne-Sophie Mutter, Music (Germany); and Bando Tamasaburo, Theatre/Film (Japan).

GatherNYC Continues Its Weekly Sunday Morning Concerts With Carr-Petrova & Boyd Meets Girl

The revolutionary concert series GatherNYC continues its mindful musical mornings this Sunday with the Carr-Petrova Duo, celebrating their album Novel Voices, inspired by their Novel Voices Refugee Aid Project, and continues the following weekend with acclaimed cello and guitar duo, Boyd Meets Girl. Alessandra Corona Performing Works returns to the Theatre St. Jean Baptiste with a program of works by four choreographers: Alessandra Corona, Maiya Redding, Isaies Santamaria Perez, and Manuel Vignoulle, Saturday & Sunday, October 26 at 7:30 PM and October 27 at 6:30 PM. Part I of the performance will show works by choreographers Redding, Perez and Corona, each presenting a 10-minute vignette with the possibility of developing a future full production for Corona Performing Works. Part 2 features W2! (Women Too!), choreographed by noted choreographer Manuel Vignouelle.

Aaron Blake Heads to Feinstein's/54 Below

Aaron Blake, who stars in the Met's new production of the Philip Glass masterpiece a?oeAkhnaten,a?? will simultaneously perform his new cabaret act at Feinstein's/54 Below on Sunday, Nov. 24 at 9:30 PM., accompanied by pianist Cris Frisco.  He will have also performed the Sirius XM worldwide HD broadcast of a?oeAkhnatena?? the day before, on Nov. 23.
