The 2020 National Geographic Live season at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts will feature four speakers a?" including photographers, filmmakers and scientists a?" plus a special film and concert engagement.

The Met: Live in HD, the Metropolitan Opera's award-winning series of live high-definition cinema simulcasts, will begin its 14th season on October 12, with the Met's production of Puccini's Turandot, starring Christine Goerke in the title role, led by the Met's Jeanette Lerman-Neubauer Music Director, Yannick Nézet-Séguin.

Princess Turandot has a fierce reputation that precedes her royal name thanks to a high-stakes challenge she has issued: answer her three riddles correctly and win her hand in marriage. Answer incorrectly and pay dearly a?" with your life. As a steady stream of admirers land face-to-face with the executioner, Prince Calaf takes on the deadly game and has a mystery of his own for Turandot to solve. Turandot runs for nine performances on September 28, October 4, 9, 15, 17, 19, 23, 25, 27, 2019.

Einstein on the Beach will play at the Grand Theatre de Geneve Sept. 11-18. Philip Glass and Robert Wilson's opera Einstein on the Beach (1976) is a meditation on time, place, spaces and events, human beings and machines. It has no narration, no plot and follows no biographical intention. The audience can take breaks at any chosen moment. The words used and sung are either numbers or syllables, with the occasional 'low-sensical' monologue added to the music.

World-class violinists Augustin Hadelich, Tim Fain, and Francisco Fullana, all of whom perform on very rare violins, will join forces for 'Glorious Strings' at Club Helsinki Hudson on Sunday, October 6, at 7pm. The three will be accompanied by pianist Robert Koenig for the concert, a presentation of The Preservation League of NYS, along with the Clement & Karen Arrison Family Charitable Foundation & The Stradivari Society.

Portland Opera announces an executive leadership transition, with General Director Christopher Mattaliano, who has led the company for 16 years, transitioning to the role of Artistic Consultant beginning with the 2019-20 season. Sue Dixon, current Director of External Affairs will serve as Interim General Director as of July 15. Dixon joined the company in May 2014 as Director of Development and was named Director of External of Affairs in 2017.
