Public Tickets On Sale July 15 for UCLA Arts Season

UCLA's Center for the Art of Performance's (CAP UCLA) individual tickets for the 2019-20 season go on sale to the public today, Monday, July 15 at cap.ucla.edu, via Ticketmaster, by phone 310-825-2101 and at the UCLA Central Ticket Office.

THE DAY Comes To Jacob's Pillow, July 31

Jacob's Pillow presents the highly-anticipated world premiere of THE DAY, featuring world renowned cellist Maya Beiser and legendary dancer Wendy Whelan with choreography by the groundbreaking postmodern dance artist Lucinda Childs and music by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Lang in the Doris Duke Theatre, July 31-Aug 4. Co-commissioned by Jacob's Pillow, the multidisciplinary work explores memory, life's journey, resilience, and survival of the soul through the shared language of music and dance. 

The Met Opera's 2019-2020 Live In HD Season On Sale At The Majestic Theater July 17

The Metropolitan Opera's 2019-2020 Live in HD season of satellite transmissions to movie theaters worldwide begins Oct. 12 with the late Franco Zeffirelli's sumptuous production of Puccini's "Turandot." The series brings live Met performances to movie theaters and performing arts centers in more than 70 countries on six continents, including Gettysburg College's Majestic Theater. Tickets go on sale Wednesday, July 17 at noon.

Andreas Mitisek To Departs Long Beach Opera In September 2020

Andreas Mitisek announced that he will depart from his position as Long Beach Opera (LBO) Artistic and General Director in September 2020, following LBO's 2020 season.  Mitisek informed the board of his decision not to renew his contract at a board meeting on June 29.

Luego de diez años de ausencia de tierras mexicanas, la Orquesta de las Américas ofrecerá un concierto el jueves 18 de julio a las 20:00 en la Sala Principal del Palacio de Bellas Artes, con un programa formado por obras de los compositores mexicanos Cristóbal MarYán y María Granillo, así como de Ludwig van Beethoven y Modest Músorgski.

Portland Opera Presents Company Premiere Of Philip Glass's IN THE PENAL

Portland Opera will present Philip Glass's In the Penal Colony for the first time, beginning July 26, 2019. In this piece, a visitor is invited to a penal colony to observe the execution of a prisoner at the hands of a nightmarish machine. The colony's officer extols the virtues of the apparatus, which tortures as it kills, in this piece that The New York Times calls a 'surreal exploration of injustice.' As the future of the institution is questioned, the visitor considers the consequences of meddling, and the officer grows more desperate to preserve the system.

Festival O19 Launches With World Premiere of DENIS & KATYA

O19, the third edition of Opera Philadelphia's annual season-opening festival, launches on September 18 with the world premiere of Denis & Katya at the Suzanne Roberts Theatre. Winner of the prestigious Fedora Generali Prize for Opera for 2019, this immersive new multimedia chamber opera is the work of composer Philip Venables and librettist-director Ted Huffman, the duo behind the award-winning Royal Opera House commission 4.48 Psychosis. 

Musco Center Presents FREE SYMPHONY IN THE CITIES

Musco Center for the Arts and Pacific Symphony are teaming up to bring a free evening concert to the City of Orange on Saturday, Aug. 3. The performance on Chapman University's Bette and Wylie Aitken Arts Plaza adds a fourth city and venue to the 15-year-old 'Symphony in the Cities' program.
