The Ritz Theatre Company is proud to present the second show of its 35th Anniversary season, The Lion in Winter, a delicious family drama teeming with schemes, scandals, squabbles, and power struggles-all on a kingly scale. Directed by Dr. Elisabeth Hostetter, the production runs from March 5th through March 22nd.

A gripping story that explores how sex, violence, and affection can all be confused for love, The Dead Eye Boy was the recipient of the 2000 Rosenthal New Play Prize, premiering at the Cincinnati Playhouse before making an Off-Broadway run. In the riveting drama, Shirley-Diane sees her teenage son, Soren, as a painful reminder of her past. Her ex-con boyfriend, Billy, sees Soren as a reflection of his own childhood. As Billy tries to friend the troubled boy, the dysfunction of hard-core addiction and manipulation blur the lines of control and love between the three .

Actor Burt Grinstead gained recognition in Los Angeles for his terrific performance in Deathtrap at LGBTQ and later in The Rope at Actors Co-op. He formed his own production company and produced and co-starred in Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde, which he also adapted with his partner Anna Stromberg. They won top prize at the Hollywood Fringe Festival in 2018. Grinstead is currently preparing to open as Richard the Lionheart in The Lion in Winter at Laguna Playhouse this Sunday November 10.
