Jacques Brel RETURNS Extends At The Triad Thru 3/30

'Jacques Brel RETURNS... The Music of Brel, Blau, Shumann and Jouannest en Cabaret' is extending its successful run at The Triad NYC, 158 W. 72nd Street with performances on Wednesday, March 16th at 8pm, Wednesday, March 23rd at 8pm and Wednesday, March 30th at 8pm. Presented by Dan Whitten, Mark Beigelman, Peter Martin and Tiger Theatricals, Jacques Brel RETURNS is a new 'en cabaret' production featuring highlights from 'Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris' as well as new material.

NYC Ballet Announces Collaboration with Paul McCartney

New York City Ballet announced today that Sir Paul McCartney and NYCB's Ballet Master in Chief Peter Martins will collaborate on a World Premiere ballet for the Company's 2011-2012 season. The new ballet, which will premiere at NYCB's Fall Gala performance on Thursday, September 22, 2011, will mark the first time that Sir Paul has written an original orchestral score for dance. In making the announcement, Martins said that he and Sir Paul met at the School of American Ballet's Winter Gala in 2010 and shortly thereafter began discussing the possibility of working together on a ballet.

Peter Martin Music: Live! returns to The Sheldon stage with the Peter Martin Quartet featuring Reuben Rogers, bass; Greg Hutchinson, drums; and vibraphonist Warren Wolf. Vibes player Warren Wolf is one of the most sought after young musicians on the East Coast jazz scene. A graduate of the Berklee College of Music, Wolf toured with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra at the age of 9, wrote his first composition at age 10, and was playing jazz professionally by the time he was 12. Since then, Wolf has studied and performed with jazz masters such as Roy Haynes, Lewis Nash and Milt Jackson and is currently touring with Christian McBride and Inside Straight.

Paul McCartney Writes Music for New York City Ballet

According to the New York Times, music legend Paul McCartney wrote a piece of music for the New York City Ballet. The orchestral piece is entitled, 'Ocean's Kingdom,' and will be featured at the fall gala on September 22.

Presented by Arizona PBS, the film concerns the life and work of Mr. Caras, a former New York City Ballet dancer, who transformed his career to become one of the world's most renowned dance photographers. Currently a resident of West Palm Beach, Caras is also a published author, guest lecturer, ballet master and founding chairman of the Randolph A. Frank Prize for the Performing Arts in Palm Beach. New York City Ballet Announces 2011 Season

New York City Ballet's 2011 winter repertory performances will begin on Tuesday, January 18, kicking off with an all-Balanchine program consisting of Walpurgisnacht Ballet, Duo Concertant, Valse-Fantaisie and The Four Temperaments, and will continue for six weeks, through Sunday, February 27, with performances of more than 27 different ballets from NYCB's unparalleled repertory. All performances will take place at the Company's home, the David H. Koch Theater at Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

NYCB Launches New York City Ballet Moves, Debuts 7/31

Peter Martins, Ballet Master in Chief of the New York City Ballet, announced today that the Company will launch a new performance group called New York City Ballet Moves during the summer of 2011. Consisting of a small group of artists from the full company, New York City Ballet Moves will provide an opportunity to showcase NYCB's dancers and repertory in venues that might not be able to present the full company for financial or technical reasons. Martins will select a rotating group of performers from NYCB's roster of dancers and musicians to participate in the group's engagements.
