Andrea Miller's GALLIM Celebrates 15-Year Anniversary at Chelsea Factory This Month

Chelsea Factory will be the home for the 15th anniversary celebration of Brooklyn-based movement and visual arts company GALLIM. To mark the occasion, Founding Artistic Director, choreographer, and first-year Chelsea Factory Resident Artist Andrea Miller will stage iconic moments from the company's repertory, as well as never-before-seen works from October 19-20 at the landmarked Chelsea Factory 

YoungArts finalists to Participate in National YoungArts Week+

YoungArts finalists will participate in National YoungArts Week+, an intensive program of online classes and workshops with internationally recognized leaders in their fields, followed by a seven-part series of free virtual performances, writers' readings, an exhibition and a film screening where audiences will discover the next generation of great artists.

Explore the past, present, and future of lighting for ballet with visual artist and Boston Ballet lighting director Brandon Stirling Baker. A frequent collaborator with choreographer Justin Peck and a diverse group of artists including Anthony Roth Costanzo, Benjamin Millepied, Sufjan Stevens, Jamar Roberts, Michelle Dorrance, Emery LeCrone, and Shepard Fairey, Baker will present the world premiere developed through the Center for Ballet and the Arts at New York University. Inspired by the close relationship between choreography and lighting design, this program featured new choreography by Jamar Roberts performed by Patricia Delgado, Sarah Daley, and Taylor Stanley.

Works & Process at the Guggenheim Announces Spring 2019 Season

Works & Process at the Guggenheim is pleased to announce its spring 2019 season. Since 1984 the performing arts series has championed new works and offered audiences unprecedented access to leading creators. Programs explore the artistic process through stimulating discussions and riveting performance highlights. Each 70-minute program takes place in the intimate Frank Lloyd Wright-designed Peter B. BWW Review: GLASS or HANDEL, Costanzo Can Handle Whatever's Thrown at Him

No one can accuse countertenor Anthony Roth Costanzo of sitting around and waiting for projects to fall into his lap. GLASS HANDEL was first produced by the singer with Visionaire and Cath Brittan at Opera Philadelphia's (OP) O18 Operafest in September and presented in NY by OP and National Sawdust for four performances this week at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine (a co-producer), GLASS HANDEL was a trip--in many senses of the word.

BRIGADOON Cast Recording Set for December 7th Release

Ghostlight Records has announced the release of Lerner & Loewe's Brigadoon - New York City Center 2017 Cast Recording in physical, digital and streaming formats on Friday, December 7. Brigadoon has book and lyrics by Alan Jay Lerner and music by Frederick Loewe. Released to celebrate both the 70th anniversary of the original production of the show and the Alan Jay Lerner Centennial, the recording is based on the New York City Center Annual Gala Production, which was directed and choreographed by Christopher Wheeldon, with Jack Viertel serving as artistic advisor. Brigadoon stars Kelli O'Hara, Patrick Wilson and Stephanie J. Block, and features the Encores! Orchestra led by Music Director Rob Berman

BWW Review: FALL FOR DANCE Celebrates 15th Anniversary at New York City Center

In a time when so much feels shallow and temporary, it's a joy to come back to something warm and familiar. In this case, that sweet nostalgia came from the 15th anniversary of the celebrated Fall for Dance Festival at the New York's historic City Center. With five different programs featuring a variety of choreographers and dancers, Fall for Dance is the best representation of dance we have in the modern world; not only does each piece reveal something new, but it shows us the parts of ourselves we don't often show to the world.

New York City Center announced today full programming for the 15th Fall for Dance Festival (Oct 1 - 13). Opening the landmark 75th Anniversary Season, the Festival showcases an international array of dance artists and companies in five unique programs.  In keeping with City Center's founding mission to make the arts accessible to everyone, all tickets are $15.
