Tony nominee Sally Mayes, Bistro winner Nicolas King, Shereen Pimentel, and Bistro winner Amy Jo Jackson (Joe’s Pub) have joined the line-up for the 10th annual “Night Of A Thousand Judys” – the Pride concert to benefit The Ali Forney Center written and hosted by Justin Elizabeth Sayre – at Joe’s Pub on Sunday, June 5.

Theaterlab (Orietta Crispino, Artistic Director) presents a new staging of the acclaimed one-woman show GARDEN OF ALLA – The Alla Nazimova Story. This intimate monodrama tells the story of Alla Nazimova, a Jewish immigrant who became a Broadway sensation, movie star, pioneering filmmaker – and a LGBTQ trailblazer whose notorious Garden of Alla mansion was “the Camelot of Hollywood”, its cultural and intellectual salon, and a place where the stars “came out.”

Amas Musical Theatre and The Amas Song Salon will present “I Wanna Be Evil: The Eartha Kitt Story” starring Jenelle Randall, with Darrell Philip, written by Jenelle Lynn Randall. Directed by Yvans Jourdin with music direction by Darnell White, this one night only event will be held on Monday, June 13, 2022, at 7pm at Theater 555 (555 West 42nd Street).

Three more shows from the Shaw Festival’s 2022 playbill are poised to begin previews. The Importance of Being Earnest, Oscar Wilde’s masterpiece of wit, comedy and satirical social commentary, begins previews May 18. 

Directed by John Savournin, musically directed by David Eaton (the team behind the smash hit 'The Pirates of Penzance 'at Opera Holland Park) and designed by Simon Bejer (winner of Best Opera at the Offies), audiences can expect first class performances from a terrific young cast, led by Catriona Hewitson in the title role (recently starring in Scottish Opera's 'The Gondoliers'), and a host of beloved CCO regulars, including Matthew Kellett and Catrine Kirkman.

EastLine Theatre, in association with Westbury Arts, will present the world premiere of Being Earnest by Long Island queer playwright Danny Higgins this June. This new adaptation of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest will begin performances at the Westbury performance space in June. Tickets for the performances are free with a refundable reservation.

A 30 seat Rogers Park theater is home to Theatre Above the Law. TATL is presenting 4 productions for their 7th season of Theatre. All performances will be held at the Jarvis Square Theater, 1439 W. Jarvis.

It was announced yesterday at a special Royal Theatrical Support Trust (RTST) ceremony that the winner of the RTST Sir Peter Hall Director Award 2021, Denzel Westley-Sanderson, will direct a new production of Oscar Wilde's The Importance of Being Earnest – in a co-production between English Touring Theatre (ETT), Leeds Playhouse and Rose Theatre.
