United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, opens its door to the new season this year.

Due to popular demand, The United Solo Theatre Festival, the largest solo performance festival in the world, is extending open submissions for the 2022 Annual United Solo Theatre Festival at Theatre Row Theatres in New York City. Interested artists now have until February 1st to submit their solo pieces for consideration for next fall's festival.

Following a month-long run that featured several dozen one-person theatre productions from across the globe, United Solo, the world's largest solo theatre festival, concluded its twelfth season at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York by presenting this year's awards at the United Solo Closing Gala.

In celebration of United Solo Theatre Festival's return to its resident stage/home at Theatre Row in New York's theatre district, Omar Sangare, the Festival's founder and artistic director, joined forces with actor and singer Wendy-Lane Bailey to create “Five Minutes: Snapshots in Time”. The solo piece premieres Sunday, November 14th at 7:00 PM.

After a year of trying times, United Solo will be returning to its home at Theatre Row in New York City as theaters across the United States begin to reopen and welcome their audiences back. Plus, United Solo introduced a new virtual streaming platform, giving performers and audiences alike the opportunity to view a collection of solo pieces from anywhere in the world.

Williamstown Theatre Festival has announced the recipient of the 2021 L. Arnold Weissberger New Play Award and the 2022 Jay Harris Commission, as well as recipients of 2021 WTF Commissions through WTF’s Andrew Martin-Weber New Play and Musical Commissioning Program.

Vaynberg's new solo piece is presented to benefit United Solo following its first reading with 14th Street Y and Downtown Jewish Life's TIKKUN: Into the Night. This piece has been developed and directed by Natasha Warner.

United Solo named Sir Ian McKellen as the winner of the 2020 United Solo Special Award. McKellen was awarded for his solo performance, “Ian McKellen on Stage: Tolkien, Shakespeare and You!”, which toured across the United Kingdom last year before coming to London’s West End for a limited run.

United Solo has shared its commitment to fight for equality. The festival is actively working to engage its audiences and take part in educating one another on the human experience with stories from diverse backgrounds and cultures. 

The United Solo Theatre Festival, the largest solo performance festival in the world, just wrapped up its 10th anniversary season. This fall, in the heart of New York's theatre district at Theatre Row, United Solo hosted over 120 productions with performers from six continents. It was an exciting season that welcomed new and returning shows. Several shows were featured in the a?oeBest Ofa?? category, which presented returning shows from United Solo's first decade. With the conclusion of this year's festival, it was announced at the annual closing gala that, in addition to its regular season in New York City, United Solo will set its sights on a brand-new location: London.

United Solo Announces 10th-Season Winners and New Festival in London

The wait is finally over for the 10th anniversary of United Solo. With its most ambitious lineup yet, United Solo will once again unite solo performers from six continents in the heart of New York's theatre district. Over 130 productions will be presented at this year's United Solo, the largest festival of its kind in the world, celebrating its first decade of taking solo theatre to new heights. With up to five performances each day until November 24 at Theatre Row, this year's robust selection of one-person shows will attract thousands of theatregoers. Over 20 performances have sold out in advance, with more expected to follow. The festival will grant additional performance dates to its most popular productions. In addition to performances, United Solo also offers Master Classes with world-famous theatre creators and recognized experts, including acclaimed director Austin Pendleton, who will give his Master Class on October 8, with more Master Classes to follow.

Celebrate 15 years of the New York Innovative Theatre Foundation and their dedication to Off-Off Broadway by joining them when they present the 2019 New York Innovative Theatre Awards on Monday, September 16, 2019 at 7:00 pm. After the immense success of her previous classes, United Solo is bringing back Oscar winner Olympia Dukakis to teach a series of 3 Master Classes on consecutive Fridays starting August 30, 2019 in New York City. This is a rare opportunity to work with Ms. Dukakis over the course of three weeks, developing one's acting skills and receiving her direct feedback. The class series, 'The Importance of Craft,' will teach students to identify and develop what is important to them as performers. Ms. Dukakis will explain how to approach the craft of acting as a personal connection to thoughts, actions, circumstances, and character, as expressed and defined by the text. 'My most important tools when I teach are my own sensibility, my personal perceptions, my knowledge of the craft, and the excitement and satisfaction I always feel with students,' said Ms. Dukakis.

Tickets are now on sale for the new season of United Solo, which celebrates its tenth anniversary with over 120 productions, presented every day between September 19 and November 24. The festival will take place at the newly renovated Theatre Row in the heart of New York's theatre district, which has been home to the festival since its inception. Throughout the past decade, the festival has presented more than 1,000 productions from six continents.

After a run of ten weeks that presented 130 one-person theatre productions from six continents, the world's largest solo theatre festival concluded its ninth season at Theatre Row on 42nd Street in New York by presenting this year's awards. On behalf of the United Solo Academy, Omar Sangare, the artistic director of the festival, presented the United Solo Special Award to Renee Taylor for her solo show "My Life on a Diet." In her acceptance speech, Ms. Taylor said: "I'm very grateful for receiving an award from Untied Solo - it's a very prestigious honor" and added "I'm very happy to be touring the country with 'My Life on a Diet' - and now I can say I am an award-winning show!"

United Solo will host a Master Class with Anne Bogart, internationally acclaimed director, author, and Head of the MFA in Directing Program at Columbia University. This Master Class is a unique opportunity to work with a legendary theatre artist. It will take place on November 5, 2018 from 6pm-8pm at Theatre Row in New York City.
