What did our critic think of A BRONX TALE IS A 'HIT' AT THE ARGYLE THEATRE at The Argyle Theatre?

Back by popular demand, Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri returns to The Ridgefield Playhouse stage with “A Bronx Tale” on Saturday, November 19, 2022 at 8pm.

The John W, Engeman Theatre does it again with their current offering, A Bronx Tale. Based on Chazz Palminteri’s 1993 movie and autobiographical play, Mr. Palminteri also created this musical incarnation with Alan Menken. This spectacular Paul Stancato directed production runs through May 8th at the exquisite Northport, Long Island, venue. Boasting a brilliant cast, this is indeed a must-see as we close out this long Winter season.

Chazz Palminteri stars in “A Bronx Tale,” his acclaimed one-man show that launched him to fame, at the Mayo Performing Arts Center, Friday, April 15 at 8 pm. Tickets are $49-$89.

The Palace Theater is kicking off the 21-22 Webster Broadway series in a big way with the legendary Chazz Palminteri  presenting his one-man tour de force,  the semi autobiographical, A BRONX TALE for two performances October 1 and 2 at 8:00pm. 

The Palace Theater is throwing its doors wide open to the public beginning October 1, to begin its 100th Anniversary Season and what a celebratory schedule of shows is planned! 

I had the pleasure of seeing A Bronx Tale with my friend Cassy, who had NEVER seen a musical before! (I know, right?!) I invited Cassy because the 1993 movie, off which the musical is based, is her favorite. Seriously, her cat is named Calogero, after the lead character in both the movie and the play. I was excited to see this show, and especially excited to see it through the eyes of a neophyte theater goer. I was not disappointed!

The first words sung in A Bronx Tale, the tonally uneven and musically disappointing touring show that opened at D.C.'s National Theatre on Tuesday, are literally "this is a Bronx tale." The artistic subtleties don't get much better from there, as the musical (based on a movie based on a one-man show) proceeds to tackle issues from morality to racism with all the delicateness of a mobster smashing someone's head in with a baseball bat. Everything about this production is underwhelming from the performances to the design to the direction and choreography. Ultimately, A Bronx Tale is the perfect example of why we should stop adapting movies into musicals.

Rochester will be the official launch city of the North American Tour of A BRONX TALE with a limited one-week run at RBTL's Auditorium Theatre October 14-21, 2018 as part of the 2018-2019 M&T Bank Broadway Season presented by RBTL and Albert Nocciolino. As A Bronx Tale enters its final weeks of Broadway performances, the show welcomes Gerald Caesar, Frankie Leoni and Kimber Sprawl to the cast. Nick Cordero, Bradley Gibson, and Hudson Loverro have departed the show. Academy Award nominee Chazz Palminteri continues in the role of Sonny, now performing Tuesdays through Fridays and Sundays beginning next week.

Chazz Palminteri is no stranger to Broadway, but his takeover in A Bronx Tale led him back to voice lessons in addition to the role he knows well. PIX 11 chatted with Palminteri about his return to the stage, check out the video below!

Randolph) for a limited engagement March 12-24, 2019. A BRONX TALE will be part of Broadway In Chicago's upcoming season. Subscriptions will go on sale in the fall of 2018.
