Tesseract Theatre company is following up their critically acclaimed productions of The Inheritance Parts I & II with their festival of new musicals. CASCADE’S FIRE written by Taylor Gruenloh with music composed by Kyle Wernke and MY HEART SAYS GO written by Matthew Hawkins with music and lyrics composed by Jorge Rivera-Herrans, and additional arrangements by Geoffrey Ko, will have their St. Louis Premieres in July at Tesseract’s “New Musical Summer Fest 2024.”

THE 24 HOUR PLAYS has announced this year's cohort for The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals, which will return this summer for their 13th year. A weeklong professional development initiative for early-career theater artists, The 24 Hour Plays: Nationals 2024 will take place July 15-22, 2024 at the Pace University Lower Manhattan campus. 

Singer-songwriter Rae Isla has released her new single, “New Frontier.” The song is the title track from her upcoming album which arrives on July 19. The song and album were produced by Isla with guitarist/composer Pablo Valero (formerly of Mexico City’s Santa Sabina). Listen to the song now!

The 2024 summer theatre season is already in full swing in St. Louis, Missouri, with three exceptional comedy-dramas opening last week. St. Louis stages opened their 2024 season with STEEL MAGNOLIAS starring a mostly local cast. Broadway World called the Stages St. Louis production “wonderfully funny – creating contagious uncontrollable laughter.”  Albion Theatre opened a terrific production of Alan Ayckbourn’s WOMAN IN MIND with a tour-de-force performance from Emily Baker in the lead role. Baker is on stage the entire production. Stray Dog Theatre had audiences laughing out loud with their production of David Lindsay-Abaire's RIPCORD. All three productions run through the end of June. The most anticipated productions of the remaining summer season include shows at The Muny, Stages St. Louis, and The New Jewish Theatre.

Rising star Stephen Wilson Jr. will embark on a fall headline tour following an entirely sold-out spring/summer tour and dates with HARDY, The Cadillac Three and Brothers Osborne. The tour will take him through major cities like Denver, Atlanta, New York City, Philadelphia and Nashville with the biggest hometown show of his career so far at the Brooklyn Bowl.

Musikal Keluarga Cemara (“Cemara Family the Musical”, with Cemara literally meaning pine tree) held its gala night performance on Wednesday, June 19th at Ciputra Artpreneur ahead of its opening night on Friday, June 21st. This musical, by Visinema and Indonesia Kaya in collaboration with TEMAN, adapts the quintessential Indonesian family story of Keluarga Cemara for the stage. The show is planned to be one of the longest-running shows in recent years, running from June 21 to July 15 for a total of 30 shows in 25 days.

Rolling Stone has just published a new report chronicling the continuing journey of Prince's hit film Purple Rain to the stage. It was previously announced that the pre-Broadway world premiere stage adaptation of Prince’s film and album is scheduled to take place in Prince’s hometown, Minneapolis, MN, in Spring 2025.
