Catherine Laga‘aia will be voyaging to Motunui and beyond as the adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people in Disney’s upcoming live-action “Moana.” Releasing in theaters on July 10, 2026, “Moana” is directed by Thomas Kail, who helmed “Hamilton” on Broadway and “Grease Live.'

The GRAMMY Museum® has announced that 83 talented high school students from 76 U.S. cities across 22 states have been selected as participants in the 20th annual GRAMMY Camp® program. Blu DeTiger, Maren Morris, and Jeremy Zucker will be this year's guest artists; they will discuss their career paths and help students prepare for the music industry.

Founded in 2005, it has produced 100s of critically acclaimed professional musicals and plays as well as youth theater.  TexARTS Academy has educated 1000s of students, many of whom have gone on to careers in the arts and can be seen on International tours, on cruise ships, in LA, on Broadway and at esteemed educational institutions both on stage and behind the scenes.

The 2024 summer theatre season is already in full swing in St. Louis, Missouri, with three exceptional comedy-dramas opening last week. St. Louis stages opened their 2024 season with STEEL MAGNOLIAS starring a mostly local cast. Broadway World called the Stages St. Louis production “wonderfully funny – creating contagious uncontrollable laughter.”  Albion Theatre opened a terrific production of Alan Ayckbourn’s WOMAN IN MIND with a tour-de-force performance from Emily Baker in the lead role. Baker is on stage the entire production. Stray Dog Theatre had audiences laughing out loud with their production of David Lindsay-Abaire's RIPCORD. All three productions run through the end of June. The most anticipated productions of the remaining summer season include shows at The Muny, Stages St. Louis, and The New Jewish Theatre.

In today's politically charged climate, URINETOWN mirrors society's extremes. Director Cory Boyas encourages his young performers to delve into the material's political themes, reflecting, 'We are a divided country... so how can we not engage with it?' He sees the musical as representing the ideological spectrum, where 'Urinetown parallels this dynamic quite nicely.'

The nonprofit Sundance Institute has announced the 10 producers selected to participate in its annual Producers Lab, being held June 10–22 for the first time at Ucross Foundation in Wyoming where they host artists throughout the year. The Producers Program reflects the Institute’s long-standing commitment to increasing support for independent producers and champions the current and rising generation of producers year-round.

The original The Lion King will be re-released in theaters on July 12th, according to an Instagram post on the official Disney account.

From June 27 to July 7, Theater for the New City will present August Strindberg Rep in a production, translated from the Swedish and adapted by Robert Greer, that transplants Strindberg's story to a Long Island country estate in 1925.
