It's hard to believe that the Andrew Lloyd Webber/Tim Rice rock opera Jesus Christ Superstar has been around since 1971. What started life as a concept album a year earlier, the musical is now a perennial favorite to present among professional and non-pro companies.

Signature Theatre presents Jesus Christ Superstar, directed by Signature Theatre Director of New Works Joe Calarco (Gypsy, The Flick). With a score by Andrew Lloyd Webber (The Phantom of the Opera, Evita) and Tim Rice (Evita, Chess), featuring 'I Don't Know How to Love Him' and 'Everything's Alright,' Jesus Christ Superstar tells the story of Jesus' life in his final week. David Rowen, producer of YouTube series davidrowen/creative, assembled a diverse group of Broadway/theatre performers to remake and put a spin on the classic gospel medley, 'Joyful, Joyful,' from the Whoopi Goldberg and Lauryn Hill film, Sister Act 2: Back in the Habit. The video is the creative element of a larger project to promote positive social change, and to raise awareness and charity for Teen and Police Service (TAPS) Academy, which is a program that connects at-risk youth and law enforcement to build trust and understanding between the two groups.

' Since 1981, the GMHC has been relentlessly fighting the AIDS crisis,' said Harbor Lights Theater Company (Harbor Lights) Executive Artistic Director Tamara Jenkins and added,'The words expressed to me after the show by them were heartfelt and I feel deeply honored to have been a part of this moving journey in producing RENT.'
