You can now get a first look at at BAM’s Harvey Theater, starring Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera. The show kicks off a new multi-year partnership between BAM and the National Theatre of Great Britain.

Arts Council England Launches Taskforce To Address Gender Inequality In The Arts

In a historic move, Arts Council England has agreed to establish a year-long taskforce to investigate the under-representation of and discrimination against women in the arts. The announcement follows five years of sustained advocacy and research by the Women in Theatre project, run in partnership with organizations including The Writers' Guild of Great Britain, Equity, WOW, ERA 50:50, Black Womxn in Theatre, Parents and Carers in Performing Arts (PiPA), and others.

Arts Council England Invites Leading Women In Theatre To Historic Meeting

Arts Council England has invited the attendees of a historic Women in Theatre research project meeting in March back to the Arts Council to hear what actions it has decided it is possible for ACE to take to address the under-representation of and discrimination against women in the arts.

Back in February, I witnessed something I've never seen in theatre before, even though I've seen many hundreds of shows. It was in the Wiesbaden Staatstheater in Germany, and the play was Ukrainian playwright Inna Goncharova's The Trumpeter performed in English by actress Kristin Milward. At the end of the performance, the mixed audience of Ukrainians and Germans rose slowly to their feet, weeping and cheering at the same time, and stayed like this for a very long time. It was extremely moving to witness.

Maureen Beattie to Become Patron of The Gaiety

The Gaiety has announced Maureen Beattie OBE as their newest patron. An official announcement of the news was made at a ceremony on Sunday 22nd October, 3.00pm, held at The Stage Door café in The Gaiety.
