The Zimmerli Art Museum at Rutgers has announced virtual programs for the new year while the museum building remains closed to the public and in-person events are suspended until further notice.

Premiere Stages in Union, under the artistic direction of John J. Wooten, will present an outdoor production of the one-woman show, Fannie Lou Hamer, Speak On It! The show will be performed from 10/15 to 10/18 at The Tent at The Liberty Hall Museum.

Broadway's Rema Webb will star as Fannie Lou Hamer and Kena Anae has been cast as Music Man in Premiere Stages production of Cheryl L. West's Fannie Lou Hamer, Speak On It!. The outdoor production, directed by Marshall Jones III will take place at the outdoor tent at Liberty Hall Museum at Kean University in Union, New Jersey, October 15-18, 2020.

Crossroads Theatre Company's Genesis Festival of Plays is back for a three-day run of three new works that stand true to the theatre's history of telling stories that highlight issues and start conversations across ethnic, racial and cultural spectrums, Crossroads announced today.  The Genesis Festival, which will run February 21-23, is a playwright laboratory experience that consists of three separate shows of stage readings for the audience to enjoy and critique that will be held in the performance studio of The New Brunswick Performing Arts Center (NBPAC).

The Crossroads Theatre Company is presenting a stunning production of 'Paul Robeson,' written by Phillip Hayes Dean. The show is wonderfully directed by the Theatre's Producing Artistic Director, Marshall Jones III and the role of Robeson is mastered by accomplished actor, Nathaniel Stampley. Two River Theater presents Oo-Bla-Dee, written by Regina Taylor, featuring original lyrics by Taylor and original music by composer/orchestrator Diedre L. Murray, directed by Ruben Santiago-Hudson. The choreography is by Kenneth L. Roberson and the music direction is by George Caldwell, with vocal arrangements by Carol Maillard.

On his day off from appearing as Hermes in the Broadway production of Anais Mitchell's Hadestown at the Walter Kerr Theatre, two-time Tony nominee and Emmy winner Andre De Shields headed to the Victoria Theater at NJPAC in Newark to celebrate his company of fabulous singers and dancers under his direction in the Crossroads Theatre Company and NJPAC's co-production of Duke Ellington's Sophisticated Ladies. Spinning Tree Theatre concludes season eight April 4-20 with Billy Elliot. With book and lyrics by Lee Hall and music by Elton John, Billy Elliot won ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical and Best Book of a Musical. Billy Elliot will also mark the company's final production at Just Off Broadway Theatre before moving to Johnson County Arts and Heritage Center for the 2019-20 season.
