Since her rediscovery of New York City 10 years ago, Marilyn Maye has sung on most of it's important music streets. Marilyn's re-emergence in the Big Apple began with her appearance at the Metropolitan Room with Billy Stritch. She moved uptown to Birdland at 44th street, Carnegie Hall at 57th and then Lincoln Center's Rose Hall & Appel Room at 60th. Last night she sang in a venue she was born to perform in - Dizzy's Club Coca-Cola at Jazz in Lincoln Center. Marilyn has shared stages with Dizzy Gillespie and other Jazz greats. Hearing her in the Jazz building's most intimate space was another historic milestone added to the long list of her legendary performances. Where will she be in our city next? How about 122nd street - Honorary Doctor of Great Music at Columbia University.
Direct from two sold out critically acclaimed London productions I Loved Lucy gave a one night only benefit performance for Abingdon Theatre Company at The Lucille Lortel Theatre on July 21 and BroadwayWorld was there.
Just last night, a chapter in Broadway musical history came to a close as Lin-Manuel Miranda, 2016 Tony Award winner Leslie Odom Jr. (Aaron Burr) and Phillipa Soo (Eliza Hamilton) all played their final performances in Hamilton.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series presented Grammy-nominated recording artist, television and Broadway star Ilene Graff, along with her husband, ASCAP-Award winning musical director Ben Lanzarone, with their big band show 'It's Better With A Band' on the Birdland stage Monday, June 13. The show featured Ben's one-of-a-kind arrangements of songs from Broadway, the movies, and the pop world played by twelve of the best musicians in town. Their very special guest was their daughter, Broadway performer and podcast host ('The Ensemblist'), Nikka Graff Lanzarone.

The Broadway at Birdland concert series was proud to present jazz singer Gabrielle Stravelli in "On The Road Again" on Monday, April 11. With a band that included Art Hirahara on piano, Pat O'Leary on bass, Eric Halvorson on drums and Scott Robinson on sax, 'On the Road Again' featured songs Stravelli has collected and composed in travels as varied as a US State Department-sponsored international tour, headlining the Eleuthera Jazz Festival in the Bahamas and a nine-month European tour of Hair. The show showcased Stravelli's signature mix of eclectic influences including international folk songs, jazz standards, fresh arrangements of pop and musical theater, original compositions from her forthcoming CD release and a preview of her new Willie Nelson tribute 'City Girl, Country Boy'.

Marilyn Maye returned to Feinstein's/54 Below and celebrated her birthday with a new show last night and BroadwayWorld was there. Highlights will include some of the best musical moments of Marilyn's enduring career over the past decade, during which she reigned as Manhattan's Queen of Cabaret.
Marc Shaiman and his partner Lou Mirabal were married today, at the end of Lieutenant Commander Mirabal's retirement ceremony, honoring his more than 20 years of service to our country. The wedding was officiated by Tom Kirdahy (The Visit, Mother and Sons) in New Jersey. Wedding guests included Bette Midler, Whoopi Goldberg, Julia Murney, Nathan Lane, Mark Sendroff, Hunter Ryan Herdlicka, Darlene Love and many others. The 6th annual BROADWAY BELTS FOR PFF! - a concert that raises much-needed funds for Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation - was held last night at the Edison Ballroom (240 W. 47 St.). Hosted by Julie Halston, performers included: Lisa Howard (IT SHOULD HAVE BEEN YOU), Margo Seibert (ROCKY), Hunter Ryan Herdlicka (ONCE UPON A MATTRESS),Daveed Diggs (HAMILTON), Randy Graff (CITY OF ANGELS), Cady Huffman (THE PRODUCERS), Judy Kaye(PHANTOM OF THE OPERA), Telly Leung (ALLEGIANCE), and Robert Creighton (THE MYSTERY OF EDWIN DROOD, CAGNEY).
Abingdon Theatre Company, under the leadership of Artistic Director Tony Speciale, presents the world-premiere run of A Room of My Own. Written and Directed by Charles Messina, Off-Broadway performances conclude March 13 at Abingdon's June Havoc Theatre (312 West 36th Street). The cast features Tony Award-nominee Mario Cantone (Sex and the City, Laugh Whore, Steve) and Ralph Macchio (Dancing with the Stars, The Karate Kid, My Cousin Vinny).

After 21 years as the cabaret light and sound guy, ministry was the only place left for Shawn Moninger to go. Now it;s 10 years later and Shawn returned to a club and made his cabaret debut last night at the Metropolitan Room. His opening act was Nancy Timanaro-Hogan, "The Loudest womean in the world!" and BroadwayWorld was there. Check out photos below!
New York personalities, style icons and real estate 'superbrokers' Tom Postilio & Mickey Conlon just hosted their annual holiday spectacular at the Edison Ball Room, honoring Frank Sinatra for his 100th birthday. The evening also featured special performances with a 16-piece Sinatra 100 Orchestra and a Sinatra memorabilia gallery.
