Review: A CHRISTMAS CAROL, Starring Paul Hilton

For many, Christmas cannot begin until The Old Vic is staging Jack Thorne's A Christmas Carol. This year's iteration shows yet again why it is a festive must-see. Brimming with emotion, but never tipping into mawkishness, it will make you laugh, cry and gasp with child-like wonder, no matter what your age. What more could you want from a Christmas show?

Interview: 'It's Relentless': Actor Jack Christou on Motivation, Apprehension and Playing Henry Creel in STRANGER THINGS: THE FIRST SHADOW

After nearly a decade, the hit Netflix television series, Stranger Things, will be coming to a close with Season Five. But fear not, fans - there is still the stage version, Stranger Things: The First Shadow, running in the West End. The play is a prequel to the events on screen, showing some of the older characters in high school and exploring the origins of the show’s main villain, Vecna. Recently, we had the chance to speak with Jack Christou, who plays the role of Henry Creel. We discussed what it is like to be part of the stage adaptation of such a popular television series, how he prepared for the role and even what he hopes audiences take away from the show as a whole.

Review: DEAD MAN WALKING, London Coliseum

A confession. It’s a guilty pleasure of mine to read the death notices on Wikipedia - I am my mother’s son after all and, without the columns of classifieds in the Liverpool Echo, where else is there to look?

Review: WENDY & PETER PAN, Barbican Centre

Girls rule ok in Ella Hickson's enchanting revival of the Darling children's 'second star to the right and then straight on until morning' journey to Neverland – first performed in 2013 and now showing at the Barbican for a five-week run.

After successful runs in Sheffield and London, Kenrex is arriving at The Other Palace in December. The show, written by Jack Holden and Ed Stambollouian with music by John Patrick Elliott, tells the tale of Ken Rex McElroy, a criminal who faced the consequences of his actions at the hands of the townspeople of Skidmore, Missouri in 1981. Review: MARY PAGE MARLOWE, Starring Susan Sarandon and Andrea Riseborough

Watching Mary Page Marlowe you feel like you're constantly trying to piece together a mosaic of one woman’s life, glimpsed in snapshots, lit by moments of clarity, yet never forming a complete picture. Under Matthew Warchus’s direction, in his final season as Artistic Director at the Old Vic, the production stages Tracy Letts’s play non-chronologically, across 11 scenes spanning seven decades, that show Mary at various ages.

Review Roundup: What Did the Critics Think of Susan Surandon's London Debut in MARY PAGE MARLOWE?

Mary Page Marlowe is an accountant from Ohio. She's led an ordinary life, making the difficult decisions we all face as we try to figure out who we really are and what we really want. As Tracy Letts brings us moments-both pivotal and mundane-from Mary's life, a portrait of a surprisingly complicated woman emerges. Intimate and moving, Mary Page Marlowe shows us how circumstance, impulse and time can combine to make us mysteries...even to ourselves. Susan Surandon makes her London stage debut, alongside Andrea Riseborough, who returns to the stage after 15 years.

Review: BREAKING THE CODE, Oxford Playhouse

We all know the names ‘Bletchley’ and ‘Alan Turing’, if only thanks to the 2014 film The Imitation Game starring Benedict Cumberbatch. Hugh Whitemore’s Breaking the Code follows a similar trajectory, documenting Turing’s journey from school boy to death in a collection of non-chronological scenes. Through Whitemore’s play we are able to gain an insight into the life of this character, piecing together his genius and his struggles slowly into a complete understanding.

Review: THE LAND OF THE LIVING, starring Juliet Stevenson

'Was what I did 'wrong'?' In 1945 Germany, Ruth is part of a UN relief programme which is seeking to reunite displaced people with their families - she’s passionate about the work, and is certain that what she’s doing is for the best. But in London 45 years later, she’s not so sure.
