Richard Rodgers Award Winner Brandon James Gwinn (TL;DR: Thelma Louise;Dyke Remix, Trixie Mattel’s Moving Parts), Dylan Hartwell (NEWSical, A Musical About Star Wars) and Greg Sullivan (Seussical, Naked Boys Singing) will bring encore performances of their hilarious show Three Men and a Baby Grand to The Laurie Beechman. 

Song master Michael Feinstein will duet with songstress Freda Payne in a tribute to two song greats - A Very Special Evening with Ella and Frank - June 7th and 8th at Feinstein’s At Vitello’s. The very busy Michael graciously took some time to answer a few of my queries.

This year I’ve thought a lot about the ethics of telling. This is a subject with wide implications. It’s about ‘telling on’ other kids in the playground; it’s about ‘grassing’ on criminality; it’s about the impact of speech and the way telling a story is a way of giving attention to something.

Thursday, April 21st, 2022 - Ry Armstrong is debuting their show ‘THEY // SHE // HE’ at The Green Room 42. The concert will be at 7:00 PM on Monday, May 9th, 2022, at The Green Room 42 at 570 Tenth Avenue, 4th Floor inside YOTEL in New York City, New York.

The story goes that Stages staff member, Eboni Bell Darcy, was part of the discussion for the theater's reopening season. Ideas evidently floated around in the zoom call. It was Eboni's idea for Stages to commission their own jukebox musical. This excellent idea led to the creation of ShaWanna Renee Rivon's YOU ARE CORDIALLY INVITED TO SIT IN. One would think that a musical highlighting Houston's generational social justice problems would be what some call a 'downer.' Instead, Rivon's creation has become, at least for me, the crowning achievement of the 21-22 Houston theater season.

I learned to bend over backwards in order to please people and get roles. Jenny helped us rewrite that narrative. She helped me remember that we don't have to say yes to everyone. What is an agitator? The New Oxford American Dictionary describes an agitator as a person who urges others to protest or rebel. In today's heated political climate, we see agitators on both sides of the aisle, some agitating for good and others not. Iowa Stage's production of 'The Agitators' by Mat Smart takes a look at two agitators from our history and the struggles they both ensued. While this production was only available for a limited time, it left its audiences with a powerful and thought-provoking play. It left them thinking not only about the differences of the times these two agitators lived in but the similarities to the world we live in now.
