The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony has announced its 2023-2024 season, including five programs led by music director David Bernard.

Nine extraordinary young musicians will compete in the final round of Vancouver Symphony USA's National Young Artist Competition on October 15. Finalists have been announced for VSO USA's 29th Annual Young Artist Competition.

Many musicians were out of work in 2020, and during a time of uncertainty and unemployment, mezzo-soprano Sasha Cooke raised funds to commission over 30 artists to create 17 new songs. These composers and librettists collaborated with her to create the GRAMMY-nominated album how do i find you. 

On May 25 at 7:30PM, the internationally acclaimed opera star brings her program to Kaufman Music Center's Merkin Hall with pianist Kirill Kuzmin.

In celebration of Lunar New Year, the iSING! Suzhou International Young Artists Festival announced the North American premiere of Echoes of Ancient Tang Poems on Friday, January 6, 2023, at 7:30 PM at the Kimmel Center's Verizon Hall in Philadelphia, and Saturday, January 7, at 7:30 PM at Lincoln Center's Alice Tully Hall in New York.

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony kicks off its 2022-2023 season with “From Bach to Mozart: A Classical Journey”—an immersive InsideOut Concerts production featuring soloists Christopher Martin (Principal Trumpet, New York Philharmonic) and Kristin Sampson (Lead Soprano, New York City Opera). 

The Park Avenue Chamber Symphony has announced their 2022-23 season “Journeys and Soundscapes” featuring world class soloists, innovative experiences and symphonic music spanning Bach through Prokofiev.  

At its 2022 Spring Gala on June 7, Kaufman Music Center launched a new campaign to double its endowment that supports music programs for more than 3,000 talented students and 50,000 audience members of all backgrounds each year. 

Tickets are still available for the concert presented by The Riverside Opera Ensemble at Merkin Hall featuring Tony nominee Christiane Noll (Ragtime) and Nathan R. Matthews who is producing as well as performing in the show. 

On Thursday, May 5 at 7:30 pm, the 2022 Ecstatic Music series concludes with the world premiere of composer Andy Akiho’s BeLoud, BeLoved, BeLonging by Akiho and 2022 GRAMMY nominees and Kaufman Music Center Artists-in-Residence Imani Winds at Merkin Hall. Inspired by the sound of 2019 protests by immigrant detainees at the Metropolitan Detention Center, the piece has been workshopped with a group of incarcerated young men at Rikers Island and will be performed around the country following the May 5 concert.

Nathan R. Matthews is producing and performing in a concert for The Riverside Opera Ensemble at Merkin Hall at the Kaufman Music Center on May 16th. Tony nominee Christiane Noll (Ragtime) and Grammy winner Edward Parks (The (R)evolution of Steve Jobs) will headline the concert of new music by Dreamworks composer Drew Fornarola and Matthews himself.

March at Kaufman Music Center spotlights an exciting array of emerging artists. Two performers beyond category – vocalist/composer/performance artist Holland Andrews and composer/multi-instrumentalist/interdisciplinary artist Darian Donovan Thomas – collaborate for the first time thanks to Ecstatic Music (Thursday, March 31).

In the exceptionally busy month of February, Kaufman Music Center spotlights two of this year's Artists-in-Residence on its new Bridges series, which features artists who reach across conventional barriers.

In collaboration with ETHEL's Foundation for the Arts, BPL will present new works by commissioned New York City-based composers from the most recent round of ETHEL's HomeBaked commissioning initiative.

Opening their 2021/22 season, the Park Avenue Chamber Symphony and Music Director David Bernard celebrate the return of live audiences with 'Venerable Variations', a concert program encompassing Mozart's Concert Rondo in D for Piano and Orchestra, Brahms's Variations on a Theme by Haydn, and Elgar's Enigma Variations. Rising young pianist Maxim Lando, winner of the 2020 Gilmore Young Artist Award and perhaps best-known for partnering Lang Lang while the Chinese pianist was injured (Lando played the parts for Lang Lang's injured left hand).

The exciting final round of the 27th annual Young Artist Concerto Competition will take place live on October 17, 2021 at 1 PM PDT at First Presbyterian Church in Vancouver, WA, USA.

2021-22 projects include the world premiere of Andy Akiho's Be-longing Project addressing today's immigration issues; the development of a new body of communal choral work that can be sung by people at all levels of musical skill culminating in group sings; and a no-holds-barred variety show featuring a cross-section of our education programs.
