Preheat to the year 1835. Mix the Baker and the Nobleman together until romance blossoms. For a little confusion, gently add the Sweet Young Lady into the mix. Sprinkle in a pinch of frustrated love, and then add a dash of Hero rushing in to save the day. Bake at 350 degrees for the length of one duel, or until ready to admit the truth. Serves them all right.

by Kaitlin Milligan - Feb 8, 2019

IBMA Momentum Award winners and Instrumental Performance and Emerging Artist nominees Mile Twelve will be releasing their new full-length album, City on a Hill, on March 29th. Produced by guitar-great Bryan Sutton and engineered by Ben Surratt, City on a Hill is comprised of ten new songs that feature Mile Twelve's impeccable ability to tackle dense and often heavy subject matter from an easy-going, honest perspective. In combination with their masterful storytelling, Mile Twelve's David Benedict (mandolin), Catherine “BB” Bowness (banjo), Bronwyn Keith-Hynes (fiddle), Evan Murphy (guitar, lead vocals), and Nate Sabat (bass, lead vocals) show a command of their respective instruments that reaches well beyond their years. “We all inspire each other and recognize that everyone has different strengths,” Evan Murphy says. “What makes this band so collaborative is that everyone in the band can do something at a really high level. That's the balance. We're all challenging each other.”

Linda Thompson Celebrates Music of English Music Hall with 'My Mother Doesn't Know I'm On the Stage'
by Sarah Jae Leiber - Sep 25, 2018

Linda Thompson's career began in the much beloved late '60s/early '70s British folk-rock scene, when she went by the name Linda Peters. At first, she was mostly a session singer and a part of a short-lived duo with Paul McNeill with whom she released two singles, in 1968 and 1969. McNeill happened to be friends with Sandy Denny, and soon so was Linda. She became one of the “supergroup” of musician friends related to Fairport Convention for the 1972 The Bunch album, a side project of sorts that highlighted rock hits of the '50s. The album's single featured Linda and Sandy covering the Everly Brothers' “When Will I Be Loved.” Also in 1972 Linda married Richard Thompson; she and Sandy can be found in the credits for his solo debut, Henry the Human Fly. Beginning in 1974, albums started appearing by Richard & Linda Thompson, winding up with 1982's classic Shoot Out the Lights — which also signaled the end of their marriage.

The Rails to Release New Album OTHER PEOPLE July 29 via Thirty Tigers
by Macon Prickett - Jun 6, 2018

It would have been easy for The Rails to have picked up where they left off in the wake of their acclaimed 2014 album Fair Warning. And, had they done just that, who would have held it against them? Within months of its release, the debut set of songs by the duo comprised of Kami Thompson (daughter of Richard and Linda Thompson) and James Walbourne (The Pretenders, The Kinks, The Pogues) had harvested myriad rave reviews and sundry other accolades, among them Mojo's Folk Album of the Year award and the prize for Best Newcomer at the BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. But for a duo brought together by serendipity – they first met during sessions for an album by Kami's mother – there was never any doubt that the way forward was to stay open to the vagaries of chance and embrace new possibilities. Four years later, they're back with an album - Other People, out June 29, 2018 with Thirty Tigers - that emphatically vindicates the pair's restless curiosity. Comprised of ten original compositions and four bonus tracks from an earlier EP, The Rails' second album is one which lays itself open to the stormy weather of life.
