Perhaps one of Kander & Ebb's lesser-known works, musical comedy Curtains opened to mixed reviews on Broadway back in 2007, where it starred David Hyde Pierce as Lieutenant Cioffi. The first UK tour has been touring the country since last year before running in the West End and we have been lucky enough to have this stage version streamed for our viewing pleasure during 'lockdown'.

Bergen County Players (BCP), one of America's longest-running little theater companies, is not immune to COVID-19. Like all other theaters in the state (and on Broadway), BCP was forced to dim its lights and cancel the rest of its 2019-2020 season to help ensure the safety and well-being of its patrons and members during the current pandemic.

Just when gloom and doom seems to be coming at us from all angles, Desert Theatreworks presents one of the funniest, finest works they have ever staged. Following its laugh filled opening night, the company has put the show on hiatus per government guidelines, but it certainly must resume its run as soon as allowed.

Max Bialystock, the one-time king of Broadway producers is hungry to strike it rich, and Leo Bloom, an accountant has dreams of someday becoming a theatre producer. They discover they can get rich by producing a flop rather than a hit, and start by finding the worst show, worst director, and worst actors. Complications arise when their new production, the gloriously offensive 'Springtime for Hitler' turns out to be a smash success. The humor of the show draws on ridiculous accents, caricatures, and many show business in-jokes.
