George Michael fans will be on their feet dancing and singing along with U.K. performer Rory Phelan and New York City actor/singer Craig Winberry who headline The Life and Music of George Michael, a brand-new, concert style show chronicling the amazing journey of one of the best-selling artists in world history that launches a North American tour in 2022.

La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club will present the world premiere of To Build a Soul – a new solo work by downtown playwright and performer Justin Elizabeth Sayre – from Thursday, December 2 through Sunday, December 12, 2021.

Paul Foster, innovative playwright, founding member and first Board President of the internationally renowned La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club, died peacefully at home in New York City on Friday, March 5th.  He was 89.

Theater in Quarantine has announced a new series of live-streamed performances. Running March 5–May 20, the season features new work by playwrights Liza Birkenmeier and Julia Izumi as well as a new adaptation of Tristan Tzara’s The Gas Heart that marks the centennial of the Dada masterpiece. 

The Dramatists Guild of America will welcome two new members to its Council, Ty Defoe and Rona Siddiqui. The Guild is governed by a board of directors (Council) elected from its membership. These writers, in various stages of their theatrical careers, meet monthly to decide policy for the Guild. 

Theater in Quarantine, a pandemic performance laboratory from writer, director, and performer Joshua William Gelb and choreographer Katie Rose McLaughlin, is proud to present the world premiere of Blood Meal, a new play written by Obie Award-winner Scott R. Sheppard (Underground Railroad Game, The Appointment). In this satirical thriller, remote performers Gelb and Lee Minora come together from separate closets across the East Village to build a portrait of intimacy and infestation. Set to premiere on February 1 on YouTube, this 35-minute work features direction by Gelb along with movement direction and costumes by McLaughlin.

The popular “Off Broadway in the Boros: Pop-Ups” performances will make their broadcast television debut on NYC Life, the lifestyle channel of the City of New York’s broadcast network NYC Media, on Friday, January 15.  The series of five performances, 20 minutes each in length, will be available to New Yorkers via the network’s NYC Life channel.
