After all, what $2.5-million production about an icon with a 13-piece orchestra and list of award-winning actors wouldn't generate excitement?

Former HAIRSPRAY star Darlene Love and Swedish music group ABBA, whose music is showcased in the blockbuster Broadway musical MAMMA MIA! and the principles of which contributed to the scores of CHESS and the upcoming KRISTINA, are among the nominees for inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010.

Old Globe Executive Producer Lou Spisto today announced the complete cast and creative team for the world premiere of Sammy, a new musical based on the life of Sammy Davis, Jr. with book, music and lyrics by Leslie Bricusse, and additional songs by Bricusse and Anthony Newley. Directed by Keith Glover with choreography by Keith Young and music supervision by Ian Fraser, Sammy will run in the Old Globe Theatre Sept. 19 - Nov. 8. Previews run from Sept. 19 - Oct. 1. Opening night is Oct. 2 at 8:00 p.m.

BroadwayWorld favorite Barrett Foa will be starring on the upcoming show 'NCIS: Los Angeles.' The series debuts this Tuesday, September 22nd at 9pm on CBS. 'NCIS' star and rap icon LL Cool J recorded a song and created a special rap video for the crime drama, Barrett himself makes a cameo in the vid around the three minute mark.

BroadwayWorld has gotten the news that Rialto favorite Barrett Foa has been cast in the pilot of 'NCIS: Legend,' playing Tech Operator, Eric Beal. The two-part pilot for the new series will air as two episodes of the hit CBS show, 'NCIS: Navy Criminal Investigative Service.'

The Recording Academy and T-Mobile Sidekick announced the full lineup for the second GRAMMY Celebration Concert Tour Presented By T-Mobile Sidekick that includes some of today's most talented and recognizable musical acts including Natasha Bedingfield, Kelly Clarkson, Common, Estelle, Lady GaGa, Leona Lewis, LL Cool J, N.E.R.D., Katy Perry and Gavin Rossdale. In addition, the resident DJ for the entire tour will be recording artist and 'American Idol' runner-up Blake Lewis.

Seattle Theatre Group (STG) presents The Roots on Thursday, April 9, 2009 at 8:00pm at the Paramount Theatre.
Though popular success has largely eluded the Roots, the Philadelphia group showed the way for live rap, building on Stetsasonic's 'hip-hop band' philosophy of the mid-'80s by focusing on live instrumentation at their concerts and in the studio. Though their album works have been inconsistent affairs, more intent on building grooves than pushing songs, the Roots' live shows are among the best in the business.
