Broadway Artists Alliance, a New York City-based musical theatre training program, kicked off their 10th season with a star-studded concert as part of the Broadway at Birdland concert series on Monday night. Performers, as well as instructors and alumni sang their all-time favorite show tunes. The cast included Laura Benanti (left, by Seth Walters), Jenn Colella, Andrea Burns, David Ayers, and Heather Parcells, who were joined by BAA Alumni Liz Byrne, Emma Howard, Kyle Taylor Parker, Ruby Rakos, Emerson Steele, Bethany Tesarck, and Clay Thomson. Proceeds from this event will benefit the BAA scholarship fund, which provides $10,000 in scholarships each year.

Producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today that Kinky Boots, the Tony Award-winning musical, will celebrate its 100,000th fan 'Like' on Facebook by offering free tickets to lottery entrants for the week of March 18-23, 2014. For this week only, the production will offer 10 pairs of free tickets to each performance, in place of the regular $37 lottery price.

At This Performance is a series of showcases that give actors working in current Broadway and Off-Broadway productions the opportunity to take to the stage and sing both a song from their show and from their repertoire, and answer questions about the life of a Broadway performer.
As BroadwayWorld previously reported, Kinky Boots will welcome new cast members beginning tonight, March 4, 2014. Jeanna de Waal joins the cast as 'Lauren' (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Cortney Wolfson, who was previously in the ensemble, moves up to the role of 'Nicola' (replacing Lena Hall, who leaves to join the cast of Hedwig and the Angry Inch). Anna Eilinsfeld takes over Wolfson's role in the cast.

54 BELOW, Broadway's Supper Club, presents Niko Tsakalakos in The First Snow Record Release Show on January 31 at 11pm. Come celebrate award-winning singer/songwriter Niko Tsakalakos' first live performance marking his debut solo album, The First Snow. Brian Usifer (Music Director, Kinky Boots; Associate Music Supervisor The Book of Mormon) helms a 7 piece band comprised of players from the Kinky Boots orchestra. The concert will also feature special guest artists who will sing some of Niko's original stand-alone theatre songs as well as songs from his new musicals Alexander Supertramp and Pool Boy. D.B. Bonds directs.

Jeanna de Waal will join the cast as 'Lauren,' beginning March 4, 2014 (replacing Annaleigh Ashford, who leaves to join the cast of Showtime's 'Masters of Sex'), and Jake Odmark joins the ensemble in the roles previously played by Andy Kelso. Billy Porter, this year's Tony Award-winner for Best Actor in a Musical, has extended his contract in Kinky Boots, producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig announced today; Porter will remain with the show at least through July 2014. They also announced that Natalie Joy Johnson (Legally Blonde) will join the cast of the smash hit musical, taking over for Tory Ross on December 23, 2013.

Kinky Boots producers Daryl Roth and Hal Luftig, along with the True Colors Fund, announced today that cast members from Kinky Boots, including stars Billy Porter, Stark Sands and Annaleigh Ashford, will join the show's Tony Award-winning composerCyndi Lauper for a special one-night-only True Colors Cabaret, on Monday, December 16th at 7:00 PM at Birdland (315 W 44th St). Lauper will join the cast of Kinky Boots to perform an eclectic array of standards, pop hits and other songs, with musical direction by the show's Tony Award-winning orchestrator Stephen Oremus. The evening will benefit the True Colors Fund, the organization Lauper co-founded to raise awareness about and bring an end to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender youth homelessness, and to inspire everyone, especially straight people, to become active participants in the advancement of equality for all.
