THE GREEN ROOM 42 will present 'The Music of Jack Mitchell' on Thursday, September 12th at 9:30pm as part of their GR42: New Writers Series. For The Record and Breakroom 86 will take patrons on a totally excellent adventure where they are surrounded by classic video arcade games, high-school lockers, old-school vending machines, vintage band posters, retro furniture, boomboxes, and cassettes. After spending a year working as a music teacher in an emergency refugee camp in Berlin, Jen now lives in her parents' basement - stuck. She is haunted by her memories and refuses to move forward with her life in America. Combining choral music, German house/techno, and Middle Eastern music, Notes from the Basement follows this diverse intergenerational and international cast on a journey of loss and forgiveness, taking a hard look at the American hero complex, 'voluntourism,' and finding humanity in seemingly inhuman circumstances. The annual KLEBAN PRIZE FOR MUSICAL THEATRE presentation took place Monday, February 4 at ASCAP, 250 W. 57th Street. Broadway's legendary musical theater creators and up-and-comers alike, came out to honor this year's three prize winners, perform some of their material, and present the prizes at a reception hosted by ASCAP and BMI.

The second concert of the Dallas Chamber Symphony's season, 'Souvenir de Florence,' led by Artistic Director and Conductor Richard McKay, will send listeners on a musical journey through Europe, beginning with Bartok's Romanian Folk Dances, an early masterpiece comprised of six, short movements, followed by J.S. Bach's Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, featuring a technically-challenging trumpet solo performed by Kyle Sherman and additional solos by Margaret Fischer (flute), Kazuhiro Takagi (violin), and Gina Ford (oboe). Rounding out the evening, DCS's virtuosic strings will perform Tchaikovsky's romantic Souvenir de Florence. Ron Corning of WFAA DayBreak will make a special guest appearance and provide opening remarks.
