Two Turns Theatre Company to Present I AM MY OWN WIFE, 9/23-10/4

Two Turns Theatre Company will present an intimate and freshly interpreted production of Doug Wright's Pulitzer and Tony Award-winning play, I Am My Own Wife, about the infamous German transvestite Charlotte von Mahlsdorf. Directed by Amy Corcoran and starring Drama Desk nominee Vince Gatton, the play will be performed in and among the furniture, art, clothing and taxidermy of RePOP (143 Roebling St., Brooklyn, NY 11211), Williamsburg's noted vintage shop. Performances begin September 23 and will run through October 4. I Am My Own Wife will perform Wednesdays through Sundays at 7:30 p.m.

Kennedy Center Sets NEW VISION/NEW VOICES 2014 for May 16-18

The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts announces its 13th New Visions/New Voices workshop from May 16 to May 18, 2014. A biennial showcase dedicated to developing new plays and musicals written for young people and their families, New Visions/New Voices 2014 will present eight new works including six selected from theater companies based in Chicago, IL; Minneapolis, MN; Bethesda, MD; Atlanta, GA; Cork, Ireland; and Belfast, Northern Ireland; one musical commissioned by the Kennedy Center; and one play from Vincennes, France as part of the showcase'sTranslation Project. Additionally, New Visions/New Voices 2014 will again host international playwright observers. While each play has a specific intended age range, over the course of the showcase, attendees will experience work geared towards young people from infancy through high school-the broadest range in New Visions/New Voices history.

The Albuquerque Theatre Guild and the American Theatre Archive Project present a one-day, interactive symposium on Saturday, October 27, 2012 in the Salon Ortega at the National Hispanic Cultural Center. Titled Recognizing New Mexico's Theatrical Past, Present and Future: An Interactive Symposium, the free event will take attendees on a tour of how theatrical performances have been a part of the lives of New Mexicans for over 400 years. It explores the role of New Mexicans in creating and preserving that history for future generations.

Castillo Theatre Announces Dan Friedman As New Artistic Director

The president and CEO of the All Stars Project, Gabrielle L. Kurlander, announced the appointment of Dan Friedman, Ph.D. as the artistic director of the Castillo Theatre on Sunday, April 4. Friedman was preceded in this position by Fred Newman, who held it from 1989 through 2005, when he retired; Newman remains artistic director emeritus.
