Following the sold-out success of COVID SUX: The Musical at Cumston Hall, Chris Henry, and Mark Falconer have written a new sequel to their previous original musical comedy about the pandemic featuring parodies of hit Broadway songs from shows like Hamilton, Les Miserables, Tick Tick Boom, West Side Story, Chicago, and Annie.

The reimagined revival of Ntozake Shange’s groundbreaking for colored girls who have considered suicide/ when the rainbow is enuf will host “100 Women of Hip Hop Sisterhood Sunday,” a spirited gathering of Black women on Sunday at 3 p.m.

Tonight, the Broadway play Thoughts of a Colored Man, written by Keenan Scott II, was honored with the Outstanding Broadway Production Award at the 33rd Annual GLAAD Media Awards. Thoughts of a Colored Man producer Kandi Burruss announced today that the author of acclaimed Broadway play, Keenan Scott II, is the youngest Black playwright to be honored with a Sardi's portrait – one of the most enduring and coveted theatrical traditions.

The 2022 winners of Douglas Lyons' Next Wave Initiative have been announced.  NWI is a developmental branch of The Directors Company committed to amplifying future Black voices in The American Theatre. Each winner will receive financial scholarships ranging from $500 to $1,959 to support their undergraduate or graduate education.

The Keenan Scott II play, directed by Steven H. Broadnax III has tried its hardest to safely navigate the current health crisis, even putting the playwright on stage with script this past Tuesday evening, but eventually was not able to continue under the unfortunate conditions of Covid exposure in the city and country.

Last night at Broadway's new hit play, Thoughts of a Colored Man, playwright Keenan Scott II made the rare move of going on in one of the roles, after a cast member tested positive for COVID-19 and two non-COVID related illnesses felled the cast.

When Thoughts of a Colored Man opened on Oct. 13, 2021, it made history as the first Broadway show to be written, directed by, starring and lead produced by Black men.
