Photo Flash: First Look at SWEAT at Capital Stage

Capital Stage presents the Sacramento Premiere of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize Winning play Sweat by Lynn Nottage . Set in Reading, Pennsylvania, in the face of the 2008 Economic Crash, Sweat has been described as a powerful and emotional look at identity, race, economy and humanity. Sweat will be directed by Michael Stevenson and is the second production of Capital Stage's 2018/19 Season: #SearchingForAmerica. Performances will run from October 17 - November 18, 2018 with a Press Opening on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 8:00 pm.

BWW Review: A Powerful GOAL! From ACT's THE WOLVES

Slice of life plays can be difficult, at least I've always found them so. They tend toward story, upon story, upon story, with little through line or resolution as life goes on. Such could be the case with Sarah DeLappe's "The Wolves" currently at ACT were it not for the fact that it's chock full of crackling dialog and high-intensity performances. And so, any perceived drawbacks I may have from this slice of life play don't seem to matter.

Marin Shakespeare Company Announces 2018 Season

Marin Shakespeare Company, Marin County's only professional Shakespeare theatre, announces its 2018 outdoor summer season - a season exploring complex and compelling men and women. Presented under the summer stars, Marin Shakespeare's 29th season includes "Hamlet," "Shakespeare's Will," a spirited and sensual imagining of the life of Anne Hathaway by Canadian playwright Vern Thiessen, and "Pericles." The 2018 season is in partial repertory, with performances beginning in May and ending early August. There will be some Thursday evening performances this year. The theatre plans to make major renovations to the Forest Meadows Amphitheatre following the 2018 summer season.

New Members Elected to OPERA America's Board of Directors

OPERA America, the national service organization for opera and the nation's leading champion for American opera, is pleased to announce that seven members have been elected to the organization's Board of Directors. Elections took place during OPERA America's recent Annual Business Meeting, held during Opera Conference 2017 in Dallas.

Madison Opera Announces 2017-18 Season

Madison Opera has announced the company's 2017/18 season, which feature a classic opera and two Madison Opera premieres.  The season opens in November with Bizet's Carmen, followed by Mozart's The Abduction from the Seraglio in February, and Catán's Florencia en el Amazonas in April. 

OPERA America Welcomes New Chairman & Members to Board of Directors

 OPERA America, the national service organization for opera and the nation's leading champion for American opera, is pleased to announce that Timothy O'Leary, general director of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis, has been elected the new chairman of OPERA America's board of directors. He has been involved with OPERA America since 2006, when he participated in Leadership Advance, one of the organization's professional development programs. He joined OPERA America's board in 2011. O'Leary was elected chairman at OPERA America's recent annual business meeting — held during Opera Conference 2016 in Montreal — where eight new members were also elected to the board and three current members were re-elected to three-year terms.

Madison Opera to Present THE TALES OF HOFFMANN, 4/15-17

Madison Opera presents Jacques Offenbach's The Tales of Hoffmann on Friday, April 15 and Sunday, April 17 in Overture Hall at the Overture Center for the Arts. G2X Energy Partenrs With World-Renowned Engineering Firms For Lake Charles Methanol Plant

HOUSTON, March 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ G2X Energy, a developer of advanced natural gas to methanol projects, along with their strategic partner the Proman Group, announced today they have entered into an engineering services contract with Toyo Engineering Corporation (Toyo) for the detailed engineering needs on their previously announced world-scale methanol production facility located in Lake Charles, Louisiana. Toyo will be providing basic engineering for offsite and utility facilities and detailed engineering of the complete methanol facility. Once complete, the G2X facility, known as Big Lake Fuels Methanol Plant, will produce 1.4 million metric tons of commercial grade methanol per year. 'Toyo is a world leader in engineering and engineering support services and we are extremely pleased to have them as part of our team on the construction of our Big Lake Fuels Plant,' stated Tim Vail, President and CEO of G2X Energy who went on to say, 'With any project of this magnitude, it is imperative to partner with firms which share our commitment to safety and quality.
