Capital Stage presents the Sacramento Premiere of the 2017 Pulitzer Prize Winning play Sweat by Lynn Nottage . Set in Reading, Pennsylvania, in the face of the 2008 Economic Crash, Sweat has been described as a powerful and emotional look at identity, race, economy and humanity. Sweat will be directed by Michael Stevenson and is the second production of Capital Stage's 2018/19 Season: #SearchingForAmerica. Performances will run from October 17 - November 18, 2018 with a Press Opening on Saturday, October 20, 2018 at 8:00 pm.
Filled with warm humor and tremendous heart, Sweat tells the American story of a group of friends who have spent their lives sharing drinks, secrets, and laughs while working together on the factory floor. But when layoffs and picket lines begin to chip away at their trust, the friends find themselves pitted against each other in heart-wrenching fight to stay afloat. A powerful and emotional look at identity, race, economy and humanity, Sweat was the 2017 Pulitzer Prize Winner for Drama.
