New York Theatre Barn will produce a reading of the new musical A Complicated Woman: The John Kenley Show on February 27th, 2020 in New York City. The reading will be directed by Jeff Calhoun (Newsies, Bonnie and Clyde, Big River). New York Theatre Barn serves as a home for new musicals during incubation.

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

The lineup has been announced for the 15th Annual Goodspeed Festival of New Musicals.

New Jersey Repertory Company presents a week long extravaganza of the arts, October 1- October 8, inaugurating its new West End Arts Center at 132 West End Avenue.

Celebrating their fifth year of introducing New Jersey middle school students to the magic of musical theater, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) and The Johnny Mercer Foundation (JMF) announced that five new schools and two new teaching artists have joined this year's program.  The Johnny Mercer Foundation/NJPAC Musical Theater Residency Program offers students, in grades 6 to 8, an immersive study of the history of the American musical and the essential tools to create their own musical.

The South Orange Performing Arts Center is thrilled to announce a new partnership with American Theater Group, a professional member theatre of the New Jersey Theatre Alliance. The company, headed by Producing Artistic Director James Vagias, will begin presenting staged readings in the SOPAC Loft in January, 2017 and the following year will produce at least two fully-staged productions on the mainstage. As SOPAC's theatre company in-residence, American Theater Group and SOPAC will co-present these theatrical offerings.

Stage Rights announced this week that A Scythe of Time is the recipient of the 2016 Stage Rights/NYMF Publishing Award. Stage Rights presented the award to book writer Alan Harris and composer/lyricist Mark Swanson at Sunday night's star-studded gala. Stage Rights and The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) created the publishing award in 2013, and it is presented annually to one or more of the musicals taking part in the festival. Performance rights for A Scythe of Time will be available through Stage Rights in 2017.

Steele Spring Stage Rights, the theatrical licensing company that represents 'The Marvelous Wonderettes,' has acquired the performance rights to the acclaimed off-Broadway musical 'Himself and Nora,' with book, music, and lyrics by Jonathan Brielle. Prior to being acquired by Stage Rights, 'Himself and Nora' played off-Broadway at the Minetta Lane Theatre.
