On the penultimate night of the 2016 Cabaret Convention, presented by the Mabel Mercer Foundation, 11 fantastic cabaret artists---those who are celebrated in the form as well as those who are emerging alike---assembled to salute the late and legendary Sylvia Syms. The evening, hosted by one of Syms' closest confidants, the critic Rex Reed, was brassy, delivered wonderful anecdotes, and was ultimately very moving musically, much like Syms herself. A black and white photograph of Syms, accurately capturing her maternal warmth, hung high inside the Rose Theater at Jazz at Lincoln Center throughout the evening, which was formatted in two distinct segments. Act One was comprised of each performer taking to the stage alone to sing one of Syms' lesser known cabaret staples, or the songs which she "rescued" from obscurity such as those cut from golden age musicals. Act Two saw the performers again take on a Syms staple, but those which were more well-known hits and standards, displaying the full range of Syms' nightclub chops.

Old School Square, in partnership with the Delray Beach Downtown Development Authority (DDA), will presentCarols by Candlelight, a new, outdoor concert experience that will become a Delray Beach holiday tradition, supporting local children's programs. 

Leona Lewis will sing her final 'Memory' today, before her time with Cats becomes just that. After taking on the role of Grizabella after pop star Nicole Scherzinger decided to depart the revival in favor of being a judge on The X Factor, Lewis joined the production in time for the Broadway transfer, which opened July 31st. She will be succeeded in the role of The Glamour Cat by her understudy, Mamie Parris, who begins performances as Grizabella on October 17th.

Jim Brickman, award-winning songwriter and pianist, brings his most entertaining and romantic concert of the year, Pure Piano: The Greatest Hits, to Feinstein's at the Nikko for two performances only - Today, October 7 (8 p.m.) and Saturday, October 8 (7 p.m.).

The British star has played the classic character - and sung 'Memory' eight times a week - since opening night, July 31. In celebration of his sixtieth year as a recording artist, iconic crooner Johnny Mathis returns to Waterbury's Palace Theater to perform his greatest hits and personal favorites today, Sept. 10, 2016, at 8 p.m.
