Berkeley Rep Announces Final Three Shows To Complete Its 2019-20 Season

Berkeley Repertory Theatre today announced the three shows that complete the seven plays of its 2019-20 subscription season: the West Coast premiere of the critically acclaimed new drama White Noise by Suzan-Lori Parks; the world premiere of Sarah Ruhl's Becky Nurse of Salem that was developed through The Ground Floor: Berkeley Rep's Center for the Creation and Development of New Work; and Samuel Beckett's masterpiece Happy Days directed by James Bundy and starring two-time Academy Award winner Dianne Wiest.

MOULIN ROUGE! Box Office Is Now Open

The Al Hirschfeld Theatre box office opens today, Monday, May 6, for tickets to Moulin Rouge! The Musical, based on the 2001 Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture by Baz Luhrmann. Moulin Rouge! The Musical will begin performances on June 28, 2019 ahead of a July 25 opening night.

The Eugene O'Neill Theater Center just held its Monte Cristo Award Gala last night at the Edison Ballroom- an event that featured opening remarks from composer, actor and Tony Award-winner, Lin-Manuel Miranda.  Academy Award-winning actor and O'Neill Center trustee, Michael Douglas presented the iconic statue to playwright and screenwriter John Logan, at the gala evening in celebration of Logan's many achievements.

Moulin Rouge! The Musical, based on the 2001 Twentieth Century Fox Motion Picture by Baz Luhrmann, will begin performances on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on June 28, 2019 ahead of a July 25 opening night.

Ma-Yi Theater, The Award-Winning Off Broadway Company, Presents FRUITING BODIES

Ma-Yi Theater Company - which previously announced that Shelley Butler will direct the world-premiere play FRUITING BODIES by Asian-American playwright Sam Chanse - proudly announces KIMIYE CORWIN (Noises Off, Henry VI), EMMA KIKUE (God Said This, Up the Hill), JEFFREY OMURA (House Rules, Hamlet) and THOM SESMA (Superhero, Pacific Overtures) will star in the Off-Broadway production, which begins previews on April 23 prior to its official press opening on April 28 at Theatre Row (410 W. 42nd Street) in Manhattan.

Town Hall Theatre Presents One Night Only Staged Reading Of UNCANNY VALLEY

Avett Brothers Musical SWEPT AWAY to Premiere at Berkeley Rep in June 2020

It was announced today that the new musical Swept Away, featuring the music of The Avett Brothers, will have its world premiere at Berkeley Rep as part of their 2019-20 season, beginning performances in June 2020. Swept Away is produced by Berkeley Rep by special arrangement with Matthew Masten and Sean Hudock.

RED By John Logan at Crave Theatre this June

Crave Theatre is proud to present the Pulitzer-winning play Red, by John Logan, a portrait of Portland's own, Mark Rothko, to be staged at Shaking the Tree Theatre this upcoming June. This fresh interpretation, helmed by director Sarah Andrews, sees Rothko and his assistant Ken portrayed by women, bringing a uniquely feminist lens to an already layered, vibrant piece.

Rory Kinnear Joins PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS

SHOWTIME has announced that Rory Kinnear (PENNY DREADFUL) has joined PENNY DREADFUL: CITY OF ANGELS, the next chapter of the PENNY DREADFUL saga, in the series regular role of Dr. Peter Craft. Craft is a successful German pediatrician and the head of the German-American Bund, an organization he hopes will keep the United States isolated from the growing threat of war in Europe. The series also stars Natalie Dormer, Daniel Zovatto, Adriana Barraza, Jessica Garza, Johnathan Nieves and Tony® and Emmy®winner Nathan Lane. Tony and Golden Globe® award winner and three-time Oscar® nominee John Logan, the creator, writer and executive producer of the Emmy nominated series PENNY DREADFUL, continues in those same roles. Michael Aguilar (KIDDING) also serves as executive producer. Production on the drama series is expected to begin later this year.
