Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, led by guest conductor David Danzmayr, presents Beethoven's nature-inspired Symphony No. 6, "Pastoral," and renowned violinist Jennifer Koh performing Ligeti's virtuosic Violin Concerto, a "hair-raising" (The Guardian) "work of eclecticism and wonder, full of beauty and surprises" (San Francisco Chronicle) on Friday, November 16, 8 pm, at CSUN's The Soraya, Saturday, November 17, 8 pm, at the Alex Theatre, and Sunday, November 18, 2018, 7 pm, at Royce Hall. Danzmayr also conducts Korngold's Straussiana, an homage to "waltz king" Johann Strauss and Korngold's native Austria. The Adelphi Orchestra, Violinist Randall Goosby To Perform Korngold's Triumphant Concert Opus

The Adelphi Orchestra will feature Randall Mitsuo Goosby, Violin (First Prize winner of the Adelphi Orchestra Competition, First Prize winner of the Sphinx Competition ) in the rarely performed and defiantly triumphant Korngold Concerto for Violin in D major, Op. 35. Randall Goosby's performance of the Korngold Violin Concerto will be the centerpiece in a program entitled "From Vienna with Love" which will also feature Strauss's Overture to Die Fledermaus and concludes with the beautiful Symphony no 2 in D major by Brahms. The concert,  conducted by Richard Owen on Sunday October 27th at 7PM will take place at  NYC's historic Good Shepherd - Faith Presbyterian Church located in the heart of Lincoln Center. The Cleveland Orchestra announced today that the 2018 100th Anniversary Gala held on Saturday, September 29 raised - for the fifth year in a row - more than one million dollars. This year's Cleveland Orchestra Gala raised a record-breaking $1,750,000, thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the sponsors, patrons, and long-time supporters, as well as the leadership of Gala Chair Norma Lerner; co-chair Nancy W. UMS & Michigan Engineering Celebrate 2001: A Space Odyssey

In conjunction with the 50th Anniversary of Stanley Kubrick's influential 1968 masterpiece 2001: A Space Odyssey, the University Musical Society (UMS) and the University of Michigan's College of Engineering (Michigan Engineering) co-present a free campus-wide multimedia celebration of the film's socio-technical themes. The celebration, taking place September 21-27, 2018, will feature a free screening of the film with live orchestral and choral accompaniment, technology demonstrations, speakers, and panel discussions. All events are free and open to the public. A complete schedule is included at the bottom of this release.

Single tickets for Michigan Opera Theatre's (MOT) 2018-19 season will go on sale next Monday, Aug. 20. The MOT opera series celebrates masterworks of literature turned opera, by authors like John Steinbeck and Voltaire. The MOT dance series will celebrate modern dance, following the movement through multiple generations. It also includes a program featuring ballet legend Alessandra Ferri as well as local favorite "The Nutcracker" with BalletMet.
