Now having its So. California Regional premiere production at La Mirada Theatre for the Performing Arts thru Oct. 13, 2024, this funny, endearing, and ultimately empowering show is easily, hands-down, this critic's favorite iteration of this musical—in no small part thanks to Desi Oakley's return to the title role and its Sara Bareilles songbook.

American Theatre magazine, published by Theatre Communications Group, has released Top 10 Most-Produced Plays and Top 20 Most-Produced Playwrights for the new season. This list was based on the 1,281 productions at 305 TCG member theatres, plus 176 productions at commercial or non-member theatres.

LA MIRADA THEATRE FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS has announced a series of special events to coincide with the opening of its 2024-2025 season, the Southern California regional theatre premiere of the hit Broadway musical, WAITRESS.

Florida Studio Theatre has announced the lineup for its 2024-25 Winter Season, featuring a four-show Mainstage Series and a three-show Cabaret Series.

La Mirada Theatre For The Performing Arts will open its 2024-2025 season with the Southern California regional theatre premiere of the hit Broadway musical, WAITRESS.

Waitress is directed by Cape Playhouse Artistic Director Eric Rosen and will feature Broadway stars Stephanie Torns (who has led several companies of the show), Caitlin Houlahan, Soara Joye-Ross,  and John Riddle. Waitress, the Tony-nominated musical with an all-female creative team, is heating up the round at Broadway at Music Circus. It boasts an incredible score by Grammy winner Sara Bareilles and a book by screenwriter Jessie Nelson. It was adapted from the independent film of the same name by screenwriter Adrienne Shelly who, tragically, was killed only a few days before the film was accepted by the Sundance Film Festival. Its themes of redemption, love, perseverance, and courage are universally appealing. Like its unique pies, Waitress is a blend of sugar, spice, hilarity, and feel-good feminine power.

Theatre Tulsa will present the regional premiere of the hit musical “Waitress,” featuring original music and lyrics by six-time Grammy nominee Sara Bareilles ('Brave,' 'Love Song').

While Kokandy Productions’ ALICE BY HEART has some lovely performances, the musical itself is far less imaginative than its ALICE IN WONDERLAND-inspired title suggests.

The recording of Waitress: The Musical, starring Sara Bareilles has been removed from the 2024 PBS lineup. It was previously set to air on PBS Great Performances.

WAITRESS is another must-see musical production in the Muny’s 106th season. Brown’s direction is incredible. She accomplishes the near impossible staging an intimate musical on a massive stage. Credit her and the entire technical team for pulling off miraculous Muny magic. Vosk is brilliant. The entire cast is superb. They deliver delightful vocals and find all the humor baked into the script. The Muny’s Waitress simply gets everything right. It is a sweet little slice of musical theater pie.
