BroadwayWorld is sad to share the news today that legendary filmmaker Rick McKay has passed away earlier this week. A longtime friend of the web site, and constant presence in the theatre world, McKay has long been at work on two sequels to his 2004 hit film, Broadway: The Golden Age.

Palm Canyon Theatre has pulled off quite a coup by acquiring rights to Hello, Dolly, one of America's favorite musicals, while the revival is still packing houses on Broadway. In one year, we have had Bette Midler, Bernadette Peters (Bette's replacement), and now Se Layne all giving their take on the matchmaker of Yonkers at the turn of the 20th century

There's a new musical that's sure to tear you apart! OH HI, JOHNNY!, the un-authorized 'The Room' parody musical will premiere in Orlando, Florida, in January 2018. Opening night is set for January 25th at the performance art space, The Venue.

Producer Jan McArt, director of theatre arts program development, and Jon Robertson, dean of Lynn University's Conservatory of Music and Philharmonia guest conductor, today announced the upcoming collaborative staged concert version of Jerry Herman's first Broadway musical, Milk and Honey, about two different love stories during the early days of Israel.

Burt Bacharach and Hal David, whose pop songs pretty much defined the mid-to-late 1960s and early 1970s, only wrote one Broadway show, Promises, Promises. There may have been many reasons for the success of the show. With stellar turns by Marcelo Medici as the big-corporation employee whose idea on how to get ahead in business consists of lending his bachelor apartment to his married bosses, and by Malu Rodrigues as the cafeteria waitress with whom he falls in love even though she is having an affair with the personnel director, and with Alonso Barros in charge of choreography and Claudio Botelho & Charles M eller directing, the musical proves that it is still as fresh and vibrant as it was when it was first created, opening in Brazil now, 50 years after his debut on Broadway.

In a new interview with ET, stage veteran Victor Garber admits he is 'nervous' about returning to Broadway in the role of Horace Vandergelder in the Tony-winning revival of HELLO, DOLLY! The actor takes the stage opposite Bernadette Petters beginning Saturday, January 20th.

The Theatre Arts Department of the University of Miami, Stephen DI Benedetto, Chairman, and Michael Bush, Artistic Director of the University's Jerry Herman Ring Theatre, announce a developmental reading of the new musical Devotion, book, music and lyrics by Mark Sonnenblick, directed by Maggie Burrows, featuring students from the University's BFA musical theatre program. This reading has been made possible by a grant for the development of new musical works by the Johnny Mercer Foundation. The reading rehearsals start January 20, 2018 with a free public presentation on January 25, 2018.

Bernadette Peters begins performances as Dolly Levi in Hello, Dolly! this Saturday, January 22. Mindy Davis, a fan who works next door to the Shubert Theater captured an epic timelapse video of Peters' name going up in lights!

Bill Milner (Dunkirk, X-Men: First Class, Son of Rambow) is to star with the previously announced, Olivier Award-winning West End star Sheila Hancock, in the London premiere of the black comedy romantic drama Harold and Maude.

Bette Midler, David Hyde Pierce and Taylor Trensch will take their final bows in Hello, Dolly! today, January 14. As BroadwayWorld has previously announced, Bernadette Peters will be assuming the title role beginning January 20. Victor Garber will be taking over as Horace Vandergelder and Charlie Stemp will be playing Barnaby Tucker.
