FROM THE HORSE'S MOUTH Celebrates The 75th Anniversary Of The NY Public Library For The Performing Arts Dance Division

In celebration of 75 years of the Jerome Robbins Dance Division of the New York Public Library, From the Horse's Mouth will dedicate its next theater/dance performance event to the history of this storied institution and the establishment of its international dance archive. Rare film footage, videos and multimedia will enhance this edition of From the Horse's Mouth and its unique blend of movement and storytelling.

October Events Announced At Green Space

Green Space is pleased to announce a diverse roster of artists for its signature programs this September. Take Root will present an evening of work by Petra van Noort and Maria Naidu in collaboration with Valerie Green/Dance Entropy on October 18th and 19th, and Fertile Ground showcases works-in-progress by multiple dance artists on October 20th. Maria Naidu will lead a Master Class at Green Space on October 8th.

German dancer and choreographer Wilma Casal and her company Wolf & Swan will premiere a new evening-length program, Shadow of a Dragon Wing, September 12-14 at the Ellen Stewart Theatre (66 East 4th Street, NYC), as part of Summer Shares at La MaMa. Shadow of a Dragon Wing comprises three worksa?"Dust in My Wings, Ancestral Shadows, and Dragon Blooda?"performed by dancers Giacomo Bavutti, Wilma Casal, Amanda Egan, Sierra Kay Powell, Madeleine Kim and Hope K. Ruth, the actor David Bennent, and live musician Dorian Wallace.

BWW Review: Stimulating dance festival WOMEN/CREATE! at Live Arts New York

Seven women choreographers and their companies share resources and collaborate for this one week festival of dance.  Each performance of Women/Create! contains four selections.  In addition to experiencing the enjoyment of varied works and styles, the choreographers spoke to the audience after the first piece ended.  Jennifer Muller set the tone for the evening with 'I truly believe that movement is a language which can speak and heal the world.'

Chase Brock, the contemporary choreographer behind the Broadway-bound production Be More Chill and the Artistic Director of Brooklyn-based dance company The Chase Brock Experience, announced today that the company will hold its annual gala following a special performance of The Girl with the Alkaline Eyes on Monday, January 7 at 7:00pm. This year's gala will honor Denise Roberts Hurlin, the Founding Director of Dancers Responding to AIDS (a program of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS), a member of the CBE Advisory Board, and a former company member of Paul Taylor Dance Company.

The Joffrey Academy of Dance, Official School of The Joffrey Ballet, announces the recipients of the ninth annual Winning Works Choreographic Competition: Tommie-Waheed Evans, Marissa Osato, Xiang Xu and Edgar Zendejas. This announcement follows a national call for ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab and Native American) artists to submit applications, which began in June. The choreographers' world premiere works will be showcased on the members of the Joffrey Studio Company and the Joffrey Academy Trainee Program.
