Two winners were announced at the conclusion of The Discovery Awards Friday, May 24 at the Tulsa Performing Arts Center. The award for Best Female Performer went to Axyl Langford, a sophomore at Owasso High School, and the award for Best Male Performer went to J. J. Willis, also a sophomore at Owasso High School. The Discovery Awards is a special regional program highlighting and awarding excellence in Eastern Oklahoma high school musical theatre.

FairShakes' springtime production of Romeo and Juliet will be performed outdoors in various New York City parks between Thursday, May 30th and Saturday, June 1st. Directed by Max Waszak, the show will be the culmination of five actors' exploration of Shakespeare's undying portrayal of true love, honor, heartbreak, miscommunication, and reconciliation. Totem Pole Playhouse, America's summer theatre, located in Caledonia State Park between Gettysburg and Chambersburg, PA, has announced a major change in its programming format starting this summer. Beginning May 31st through September 8th, a new 5-show summer subscription series will be offered. The new format will allow Totem Pole to offer a wider variety of offerings beyond the limited productions which the Playhouse produces. In addition to the new 5-show offering there will be several "Friday Fun Nights" throughout the summer which will include family movie night sing-alongs complete with picnic dinners and solo shows featuring performers from Broadway and Television.

More than 450 guests were starstruck at Goodman Theatre's May 18 Spring Gala, headlined by Broadway star and Tony Award nominee Megan Hilty. The black-tie event, held at the Fairmont Chicago, raised more than $800,000 to support the theater's Education and Community Engagement programs. LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art) summer season 2019 will run from 29 May to 17 July at the drama school's West London campus. Directed by industry professionals, the summer season marks the final productions of LAMDA's graduating acting and technical students as they prepare to embark on their professional careers.
