BWW Review: RENT at Times Union Performing Arts Center

Everything is Rent at the Times Union Center for the Performing Arts in Jacksonville, FL. Jonathan Larson's Rent takes place in New York City in the Late 80's to early 90's. The audience follows a group of characters as they discover how important it is to embrace each day they are given because they do not know when it will be their last. Through the entire production on January 14, I could hear fans of the production laugh, sniffle, and applaud as the beautiful story unfolded.

2020 Johnny Mercer Writers Colony At Goodspeed Participants Announced

In what has become an annual ritual, a total of 40 established and emerging composers, lyricists, and librettists will converge on the Goodspeed campus from mid-January through mid-February 2020 to participate in the Johnny Mercer Foundation Writers Colony at Goodspeed Musicals. The writing teams, representing 15 new musicals, will populate the campus, creating a truly exciting environment for discovery and inspiration.

Ava DuVernay's ARRAY Releasing Acquires THEY'VE GOTTA HAVE US

They've Gotta Have Us, a dynamic chronicle of art, activism and race in Black Cinema featuring in-depth interviews with some of Hollywood's most iconic voices, has been acquired by ARRAY Releasing as the company's first series acquisition.  ARRAY will premiere the docu-series on Netflix on February 5, 2020. ARRAY has also acquired distribution rights in the U.S., Canada, Australia, New Zealand and Africa. The announcement was made by ARRAY founder Ava DuVernay.

Seattle's Opera Center Announces Activities For January-March

As the days get longer and Spring hits Seattle in the first quarter of 2020, The Opera Center bustles with free and low-cost activities for all ages. The mainstage operas attract big crowds Eugene Onegin (1/11 a?' 1/25) and Charlie Parker's Yardbird (2/22 a?' 3/7) at Marion Oliver McCaw Hall. But, adjacent to McCaw Hall, is Seattle's newest education, artistic and civic space known as The Opera Center. This state-of-the-art facility opened to the public on December 15, 2018 and is accessible to everyone.

Amazon Studios Announces Deal With Plan B Entertainment

Amazon Studios announced today that it has signed a new overall deal for television with the Academy and Emmy Award-winning team at Plan B Entertainment. Under the exclusive new agreement, its first ever devoted to television production, Plan B will develop and produce series to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in more than 200 countries and territories worldwide. Plan B is currently in production with Academy Award-winning director Barry Jenkins on the upcoming Amazon Original series The Underground Railroad, and will also produce the new Amazon Original series Outer Range, created by Brian Watkins. Plan B is also working with Amazon Studios, along with Legendary Television, to develop Paper Girls, a dramatic series based on Brian K. Vaughan's best-selling graphic novel.

Gael Garcia Bernal and Diego Luna Sign First-Look Deals with Amazon

Amazon Studios today announced it has signed a first look deal with award-winning actors and producers Gael García Bernal (Mozart in the Jungle) and Diego Luna (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), who currently serve as executive producers on the upcoming limited series Untitled Cortés and Moctezuma Project, from Amazon Studios and Amblin Television. As part of the deal, Bernal and Luna will create and produce content for Amazon Studios to premiere on Amazon Prime Video in over 200 countries and territories worldwide. Luna and Bernal recently announced their new production house in Mexico, La Corriente del Golfo, an independent company for cinematic, theatrical, and television productions and a variety of community-oriented projects.

Amazon Studios Announces Cast for New LORD OF THE RINGS Series

Amazon Studios today announced the first group of series regulars set to star in the new Amazon Original series based on stories from the iconic 'The Lord of the Rings' novels by J.R.R. Tolkien. Newly revealed cast members including Robert Aramayo, Owain Arthur, Nazanin Boniadi, Tom Budge, Morfydd Clark, Ismael Cruz Córdova, Ema Horvath, Markella Kavenagh, Joseph Mawle, Tyroe Muhafidin, Sophia Nomvete, Megan Richards, Dylan Smith, Charlie Vickers, and Daniel Weyman. Production will begin in February.

Sir Karl Jenkins' 'Miserere: Songs Of Mercy And Redemption' Premieres At Carnegie Hall

DCINY brings the North American premiere of “Miserere: Songs of Mercy and Redemption”, Sir Karl Jenkins' new work for soloists, choir and orchestra to Carnegie Hall. A special highlight of the program is the 20th anniversary of “The Armed Man, A Mass For Peace”, a work, composed in 1999 and performed over 2500 times since then. A film produced by Hefin Owen will accompany “The Armed Man”.

The Jewish Museum to Present Public Programs in Conjunction with RACHEL FEINSTEIN: MAIDEN, MOTHER, CRONE

UnTheatre Co Attempts 30 Plays In 60 Minutes In Southwest Detroit

Returning after sold-out crowds during its past runs, UnTheatre Co. kicks off another presentation of Too Much Light Makes the Baby Go Blind, an attempt to perform 30 plays in 60 minutes. The extended run opens January 11 through February 16, 2020. Performances will run on Saturdays at 8PM and Sundays at 6PM and will take place at Matrix Theatre Company, located at 2730 Bagley in the heart of Detroit's Mexicantown, 48216.
