There can be few shows that have been quite so pushed from pillar to post by Covid. The West End version of Moulin Rouge! The Musical has stuttered, started and stopped a dizzying number of times. After winning 10 Tony awards on Broadway, the long-awaited adaptation of Baz Luhrmann’s extravagant 2001 film is now officially open at a red velvet-swathed Piccadilly Theatre in a blaze of sparkle and light.

Winners Of The 2019 Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer Of The Year And Stiles + Drewe Prize Announced

Winners of the 13th annual Stephen Sondheim Society Student Performer of the Year (SSSSPOTY) and the 12th annual Stiles + Drewe Best New Song Prize were announced last night at a gala held at Theatre Royal Haymarket, hosted by Joanna Riding. The gala saw twelve student competitors each perform a Stephen Sondheim song, and a Best New Song Prize entrant written by members of Mercury Musical Developments. The winner of this year's SSSSPOTY award was Stuart Thompson from LAMDA, who performed Franklin Shepard, Inc and My Thing. Theo Jamieson was awarded the Stiles + Drewe Prize for his original song Words/Amazing.

Symphony Space pays exuberant homage to the Great White Way with Project B-way/95, a two-week celebration comprising 14 events, April 7 - 20. Curated and Produced by Joel Fram and Annette Jolles, and named for the intersection where Symphony Space stands, Project B-way/95 salutes Broadway with an exciting array of concerts, tributes, film screenings, discussions, workshops, and more. Anchored by three starry concerts in the Sharp Theatre - an evening with the incomparable Patti LuPone (Tuesday, April 19), the cheerfully nepotistic "All in the Family" with Kelli O'Hara (Monday, April 11), and this year's installment of Symphony Space's signature event, Wall to Wall Stephen Schwartz (Saturday, April 16) - Project B-way/95 offers something for every lover of American musical theater. An Official Selection of the New York Musical Theatre Festival Next Link Project The Travels, a new play with music by Aaron Riccardi is one of the first shows at the New York Musical Theatre Festival to be granted and extension to to early popular demand. The Travels features music by Kelly Hoppenjans, book and lyrics by Aaron Riccardi, directed by Travis Greisler and choreography by Misha Sheilds. Beginning performances on July 14, the show will run through July 26 at Ford Foundation Studio Theatre at The Pershing Square Signature Center (480 West 42nd Street).
