Back to the Future: The Musical just held a Gala Performance, celebrating its arrival on Broadway, and benefitting the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research. Special guests included original film cast & creative team members Michael J. Fox, Christopher Lloyd, Lea Thompson, Huey Lewis, Steven Spielberg, Robert Zemeckis and more. Earlier today, the highly-anticipated, first ever permanent Museum dedicated to the storied history and legendary artistry of Broadway musicals, plays, and theatres, officially opened to the public. The Museum of Broadway just hosted its ribbon cutting ceremony and we have photos from the big day!

Southampton Arts Center has announced the return of SummerFest on Thursday, September 1 at 6 PM.

The complete cast and creative team have been announced for the first Broadway revival of August Wilson's The Piano Lesson at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre. Joining the cast are Nadia Daniel and Jurnee Elizabeth Swan. Rounding out the company are Shirine Babb, Charles Browning, Peter Jay Fernandez, Sharina Martin, Warner Miller, Doron JePaul Mitchell and Kim Sullivan.

On Friday, May 20, 2022, one hour before the Drama League Awards, Board President Bonnie Comley, Kirk Iwanowski, Mary Jain, and the Board Hosted a VIP Reception at the Drama League Awards right next to the Ziegfeld Ballroom. While the Drama League Distinguished Performance nominees were lining up for the dais, a cocktail party was in full swing in the adjacent ballroom.

The new comedy musical, Mr. Saturday Night officially opened on Broadway last night at the Nederlander Theatre and BroadwayWorld was on  the red carpet for all of the action!

The Broadway community honors the memory of Elizabeth Ireland McCann, better known as Liz, the Tony Award-winning producer and general manager who was among the first successful female leaders in Broadway.

Last night, the five-time Olivier Award® nominated epic play, The Lehman Trilogy, celebrated its triumphant Opening Night at the Nederlander Theatre. BroadwayWorld was there for the star-studded red carpet!

Good news! Broadway's wonderful Wicked has made its highly anticipated return to the stage of the Gershwin Theatre. Composer Stephen Schwartz was in attendance at tonight's performance and joined the company for opening night bows, as was original Glinda, Kristin Chenoweth, who made a pre-show speech. ELIZABETH IRELAND McCANN, the iconoclastic Broadway producer who won nine Tony Awards during a 60-year career in theater, died after a bout with cancer on Thursday, Sept. 9, 2021 at Calvary Hospital in the Bronx, according to her longtime associate and friend, Kristen Luciani.  She was 90 years old. 

Broadway for Racial Justice will present “BFRJ Revival” every Friday of February at 7pm ET via YouTube Live! The concerts will feature performances by Shaunice Alexander, Shayla Brielle, Kayla Davion, Deon'te Goodman, Arnold Harper, Aaron Harrington, Mariah Lyttle, Jhardon Milton, Brandon Michael Nase, Ines Nassara, L Morgan Lee, and Nasia Thomas.

Harry Connick Jr - A Celebration of Cole Porter, honoring one of America's most respected songwriters, officially opened last night, Thursday, December 12th.

Last night, The Jimmy Awards held their 11th annual ceremony at Broadway's Minskoff Theatre. The top awards went to Ethan Kelso and Ekele Ukegbu, for Best Performance by an Actor, and Actress, respectively. Kelso took home the prize for his performance as Will Bloom in Big Fish at Salt Lake School for the Performing Arts in Logan, Utah, while Ukegbu won for her performances as the title role of Aida at Elmont Memorial Junior-Senior High School in New York City.

Subtitled 'A Light Comedy About Dark Jews,' we meet Bubby as she prepares a much-too-salty matzo ball soup for Rosh Hashana dinner in a period-perfect kitchen as the center piece of a realistic two-story set designed by Joel Daavid in anticipation of her entire family gathering to celebrate the holiday. Even her son and grandson will be there, a special evening (she hopes) as the two have not spoken to each other in years. But after continuously forgetting to bring home the chicken for dinner, Joey's alcoholic father David finally shows up at the table, causing alliances to be challenged and hopefully, new beginnings to be forged. And leave it to Zayda to show up at just the right moments to forward the story and add his own insights into his family's history and character. Oy vey!

Award-winning actor, singer, and dancer, Joel Grey, has been named to a star-studded advisory board to nominate the recipient of the Gold Coast International Film Festival's second annual Burton Moss Hollywood Golden Era Award. Regina Gil, founder and executive director of the Gold Coast Arts Center] and its Gold Coast International Film Festival, announced Grey's appointment to the board which includes such luminaries as Larry King, Richard Thomas, Edwina Sandys, Katherine Quinn, Tippi Hedren, Greg Mullavey, and Carole Shelley.
