Great Lakes Theater (GLT) has released production photos for its production of Jane Austen’s classic, Sense and Sensibility, performing in the company’s intimate and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square through March 5, 2023. GLT’s Associate Artistic Director, Sara Bruner, and Artistic Associate, Jaclyn Miller, will co-direct this production. Great Lakes Theater (GLT) continues its 61st season with Jane Austen's classic, Sense and Sensibility, performing in the company's intimate and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square (February 10 – March 5, 2023). GLT's Associate Artistic Director, Sara Bruner, and Artistic Associate, Jaclyn Miller, will co-direct this production. 

What did LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS is the kind of show that many love to hate while others love it.  The topics of abuse and drug use, which are not in the wheelhouse of musicals, sometimes turn people off, as does the phy-sci-centered plot.  The GLT production is as good as you are going to get.  It solidly hits all the comic and horror notes.  It’s a must see for the script’s fans! our critic think of LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Great Lakes Theater?

This fast-paced, madcap Tony Award-winning show is a fitting way to end this momentous season. Alfred Hitchcock’s The 39 Steps will perform in the company’s intimate and audience-friendly home at the Hanna Theatre, Playhouse Square, April 29 – May 22, 2022.

Great Lakes Theater (GLT) announces a 2021-22 transition plan that addresses ongoing pandemic-related challenges. As the health and safety of patrons, artists, and staff is Great Lakes Theater's top priority, the theater is cancelling the remaining productions in its 2020-21 season - Agatha Christie's Black Coffee, The Tempest, and The Marvelous Wonderettes.

Though SCR's admirable new production of the 1963 Broadway musical SHE LOVES ME, for the most part, still has many charming, beautifully-staged, and well-sung moments, it also somehow feels like it is slightly reigned in, as if there was a purposeful attempt to downscale some of its built-in whimsy and spirited vivaciousness---particularly in the first act where emotional expressions all seem to sit in the same middle areaa?? never tipping over to too angry or too sad or too happy or too, well, anything. Now on stage in Costa Mesa through February 22, 2020, the production---directed by the theater's own artistic director David Ivers---is genuinely entertaining, but still needs a huge shot of joy, romance, and pep to make it feel complete.

Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater announces casting for Octavio Solis' Mother Road, a sequel to John Steinbeck's The Grapes of Wrath. Mother Road premiered at the Oregon Shakespeare Festival in 2019 and will run at Arena Stage from February 7 - March 8, 2020 in the iconic in-the-round Fichandler Stage.

Arizona Theatre Company (Sean Daniels, Artistic Director; Billy Russo, Managing Director) will bring the timeless “masterpiece of musical theatre” (Chicago Tribune), Cabaret and its powerful political wallop to the Temple of Music & Art from Nov. 30-Dec. 29 and the Herberger Theater Center from Jan. 4-26.

Due to unforeseen circumstances,LIZZIE The Musical will not play the Irene Diamond Stage at The Pershing Square Signature Center this summer. The engagement was originally announced to take place from July 19 through September 29.

The Oregon Shakespeare Festival invites audiences to enjoy two plays by William Shakespeare-plus one about a young girl with a crucial superpower, curiosity, and the beloved fantastical dream adventure in which she tries to figure out how to stay true to who she is-under the stars when its flagship outdoor theatre opens the weekend of June 7-9, 2019. The Allen Elizabethan Theatre will feature Macbeth, directed by Jose Luis Valenzuela; Alice in Wonderland, adapted from Lewis Carroll by Eve Le Gallienne and Florida Friebus, directed by Sara Bruner; and All's Well That Ends Well, directed by Tracy Young. Previews begin May 28, and all three shows will run through the weekend of October 11-13.
