Calling new and established playwrights! Ashland New Plays Festival will open script submissions for their 2026 Fall Festival on Wednesday, September 3rd.
The Ashland New Plays Festival (ANPF) has announced the four winning playwrights for its 2025 Fall Festival, selected from more than 350 script submissions. The winning plays will receive staged readings during the festival, running October 15–19, 2025.

On April 29 and 30, Ashland New Plays Festival continues its spring offerings with public readings of ANPF New Voices Playwright Carlos-Zenen Trujillo's powerful new work, Our Utopia, commissioned by Bag&Baggage Productions.
Ashland New Plays Festival is back in person with a development workshop of Sarah Cho's autobiographical play stains. A coming-of-age story about growing up poor, female, and Korean American in LA, the play follows its teen protagonist as she is mentored by an imaginary friend-who happens to be a wisecracking blonde witch from a popular 90s sitcom.
Bag&Baggage Productions will continue their 2021/22 season with a workshop production of Carlos-Zenen Trujillo’s Our Utopia., Join the actors, director, and playwright over Zoom on Wednesday, February 2nd, for a live script reading and talk-back discussion about the themes and stories presented in the play.
After a successful two-day run of Lonesomes by Octavio Solis in February, Ashland New Plays Festival is bringing the play back for an encore with the release of a newly recorded performance, available to stream on demand this March 16 through 21. Ashland New Plays Festival is in the midst of a major change in artistic leadership. Kyle Haden will be completing his 6th and final season as Artistic Director in December, so he can devote more of his energies to the leadership team at Carnegie Mellon University's School of Drama, where he was recently named Interim Senior Associate Head.
Ashland New Plays Festival will present a special two-night full production of The Gun Show by award-winning playwright E.M. Lewis at 7:30 pm on June 14 and 15 at the Bellview Grange in Ashland, featuring Andrew William Smith and directed by Lisa Velten Smith. Tickets are $25, available online or at the door, subject to availability. A conversation with the audience about personal experiences with guns will follow the performance.
