Review: 1536, The Ambassadors Theatre

On 13 May 1536, Anne Boleyn’s household is broken up ahead of her going on trial for treason. On 13 May 2026, Ava Pickett’s play 1536 continues performances in its new West End home. 490 years may feel like a long time, but just how much has actually changed? Set against the backdrop of Anne Boleyn’s catastrophic fall from grace, three women try to navigate through life in an increasingly misogynistic Tudor village.

Production images have been released for 1536, the play by Ava Pickett now running in London’s West End. Directed by Lyndsey Turner, the production explores female friendship in Tudor England.

The full cast has been announced for the West End transfer of the 1536. Performances will run from 02 May to 01 August 2026 at the Ambassadors Theatre.

Review: NOISES OFF, New Wolsey Theatre

As someone who first got into the world of British Comedy through Mischief Theatre, particularly The Play That Goes Wrong, it has been quite the fascinating journey to travel back in time through the history of British comedy, including the iconic Noises Off, which has opened at New Wolsey Theatre in Ipswich. This is a new production of the play, which was written by Michael Frayn in 1982, now directed by Douglas Rintoul in collaboration with Les Théâtres de la Ville de Luxembourg, Queen’s Theatre Hornchurch and Theatre by the Lake.

Original Theatre presents a Winter/Spring 2024 tour of Steven Canny and John Nicholson's The Time Machine – A Comedy, following the play's previously announced forthcoming London première at Park Theatre from 30 November – 30 December.

All new rehearsal photos have been released for the world premiere of SPIKE, a new comedy by Ian Hislop and Nick Newman. The title role will be played by Olivier Award-winning actor John Dagleish, with Stephen Fry voicing the BBC Announcer at The Watermill from Thursday 27 January – Saturday 5 March.

Inaugural LAMDA MISHMASH FESTIVAL Announced

LAMDA (London Academy of Music & Dramatic Art)has announced the inaugural LAMDA MishMash Festival, which will celebrate and showcase the self-created work of the drama school's alumni. Running from Friday 24 to Sunday 26 April at LAMDA's west London campus, the festival will mark the first public performances for the majority of pieces being staged.
