The Theatre Group at SBCC presents its 2023-24 theatre season beginning in July with the classic musical GUYS AND DOLLS.

Students at five Madison Metropolitan School District elementary schools and one middle school are singing, acting and dancing again with Disney Musicals in Schools after a three-year intermission. In celebration, Overture will host the Disney Musicals in Schools 2023 Student Share on Tuesday, May 23 with a one-hour performance at 11:45 a.m. in Capitol Theater.

Lyric Stage has announced its 30th season. Lyric Stage will produce four hit Broadway shows under the music direction of Bruce Greer at the historic Majestic Theatre. Learn more about the full lineup here!

Panelists include Tovah Feldshuh, the first Jewish actress to play Mrs. Rosie Brice in “Funny Girl,” and renowned lyricist Bruce Sussman (“Harmony”) and award-winning playwright Alfred Uhry (“Parade”), who will share their insights and experiences on this critical issue.

The world premiere of HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN IN NEW YORK on Hale Centre Theatre’s Jewel Box Stage is a disarmingly charming throwback to the Golden Age musical. Commissioned by the estate of Frank Loesser (GUYS AND DOLLS, HOW TO SUCCEED IN BUSINESS WITHOUT EVEN TRYING), it features the Oscar-nominated score of the 1952 film HANS CHRISTIAN ANDERSEN and other trunk songs. 

On Friday, May 12th, I had the pleasure of seeing yet another phenomenal production by Fairfield Center Stage, GUYS & DOLLS, which is one of the absolute best musicals ever written, with music by Frank Loesser and book by Jo Swerling and Abe Burrows, based on characters created by Damon Runyon.  As someone who has seen this show performed on Broadway, I am qualified to say decisively and without exaggeration that Fairfield Center Stage’s performance of GUYS & DOLLS far surpasses and outshines what I saw on Broadway!  Fairfield Center Stage has yet again chosen the perfect cast and perfect venue for their production!  The venue is Wakeman Hall, inside First Church Congregational of Fairfield.   Fairfield Center Stage maximizes the use of both the stage and the area in front of the stage throughout the show.  Director Brian Crook, Musical Director Frank Martignetti, and Choreographer Bonnie Gregson combine their talents to bring out the best in the first-rate ensemble cast who all look like they are having a wonderful time playing their respective roles, with excellent stage chemistry, radiating positive energy throughout the audience!   The stage presence and dynamics between the cast members are sensational.  The performances are so believable, all around, that it is easy to forget that this is a fictional story.

After a run in October 2021, Richard Hollman’s BACK AND FORTH will return to Central Park this summer for a return engagement.

The Pulitzer Prize Board has just announced that English, by Sanaz Toossi has won the 2023 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Other finalists included: On Sugarland by Aleshea Harris and The Far Country by Lloyd Suh.

On Tuesday, May 23, nearly 100 elementary students from Pittsburgh will have the extraordinary opportunity to sing and dance on the Byham Theater (located at 101 6th Street) stage as the result of a grant awarded to the Pittsburgh Cultural Trust's education department by Disney Theatrical Group (DTG).

Rian Keating will bring his acclaimed 2022 MAC Award-winning Time Stamps:  Life Fragments in Story and Song to the Guild Hall on May 25th at 7pm with Darryl Curry at the piano.  

New casting has been announced for the West End transfer of the critically acclaimed and Olivier Award-winning production of Rodgers & Hammerstein's Oklahoma!. Joining the company are David King-Yombo as Mike, Paige Peddie as Ado Annie, and Sally Ann Triplett as Aunt Eller.

Reknowned cabaret storyteller Rian Keating will return to the stage of the Episcopal Actors’ Guild Hall on May 25th to perform his 2022 MAC Award-winning Time Stamps:  Life Fragments in Story and Song to benefit the charitable programs of the EAG and NYC’s professional performing artists in need.
